The problem with your reasoning and with that of OP is that you are treating dogs as actualized human beings with agency who crave the sweetness of life and all its experiences. Having this urge towards your close partner is a sign of the dreaming mind and of being spiritually white, but it is not accurate to reality and denies the Dog his true virtue. He is submissive to man in his entirety, but he serves without complaints and with little expectation of his own, save for some love and some food. Like the Roman soldier in Pompeii who died at his post or Oddyseus' dog, the virtue of the dog is in his unfailing service and love. The Dog is a creature without sin, made wonderful and precious precisely because of his lack of agency. This is also why it is an insult to call a man a dog, because that is not what he should be.
TLDR: Dogs are awesome and I like them more than people. But they are not your homies and you should get them neutered after they are fully developed.
