Yeah I didn't get what the movie was about... although it's damn miserable... then I read wikipedia about the time they showed it in America everybody left the movie theaters crying. It's probably the snapshot of normie life.
I don't really know why but you reminded me of pic related... didn't make me cry, but I was profoundly shocked that the USSR launched it to the global market (it even won an ironical Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1981) as if they just invented sliced bread, the atom bomb, and "the movie that will end cinema" ALL AT THE SAME TIME.
Probably the most cringe moment in the history of cinema.
