Not really, my point is that they lack any real understanding. Some kinda get it but most go through the motions out of habit. They aren't human, they lack key aspects of it. Naytibas aren't human, they lack key aspects of it.
By the end of the game EVE is the only "real" human who has all the required aspects, including finally properly asserting her own will, especially in the best ending.
I actually agree with you latter assessment, I feel that's the point the game wants to convey and that EVE is basically getting us back on track having all of the traits of a true human, and important amongst all of them being empathy.
