No its a safety thing, this is the max that cant really harm humans and animals from internal microwave heating and even that is well past any occupational limits for prolonged rf exposure.

If you don't give a shit about safety, like military use you could get power densities higher than solar but probably still not high enough to do something like power a warship even if you used the entire deck to receive the power.

Now all that said, yes the power density is 1/4 solar, but it could be 24/7 with multiple satellites.

On the other side of the argument solar is not full power all day. Where I live we get 4 solar hours per day, meaning 1kw of solar panels would make an average of 4kwh of power in a day and this is skewed to the summer.

A space based solar receiving station would get full power 24 hours a day. So 1kw of receiving capacity would get 24kw of power in a day. So it would be more land efficient than solar + batteries but the costs would still be much higher because building and launching satellites is exclusive and the equipment to receive and rectify that power on earth is expensive.

Also, this system absolutely would have dual use as a city killing weapon so there's geopolitical concerns as well.

Guys, I don't think Mario Kart is as good as people make it out to be.
