Resident Evil will never translate well to film, becaue the main "character" of Resident Evil is the environment itself, followed by the wacky puzzles. Zombies and Monsters only exist to get in your way from looking at phenomenal environmental visuals while solving comedically retarded bullshit.
The only way I think you honestly do Resident evil justice, is is basically make a movie like The Cube where it's mostly about solving puzzles, and each new room, is something just looks fucking phenomenal and gorgeous to look at on screen. Other than that, Resident Evil films will always just be generic zombie movies.
