Make a true successor to halo 3. A continuation of the story including master chief, make campaign coop friendly, then do firefight, forge and a medium sized multiplayer on top. Faithful to the old artstyle, some new things but no crazy new ideas in there. Don't aim for groundbreaking new mechanics or changes. Maybe even advertise it as a franchise reboot like Modern Warfare 2019 did. If a competent studio did it on a medium to large but *not bloated* budget it would have a good shot at getting halo back on track. I think it's extremely important not to aim for the next big live service mega product homerun, but I'm just a guy phoneposting at work so what do I know.
