I don't buy Gates and Doo being clonetypes. Clone newtypes are more stable and physically enhanced. They're healthier and can take way more abuse than a normal human could. Deux, on the other hand, looks like a stiff breeze would be enough to kill her.

With how surgery the ending was, and the lack of major character death in the second half, I'm surprised they kept the one character who was the most pitiable dead. I was expecting things to get way darker after they killed off a kid and everyone treated like business as usual, similar to how ZZ got darker once they started treating Ple like just another enemy soldier to be killed or basically the entirety of IBO. In most Gundam, fighting and killing young pilots is treated as a big deal (see Nicol in SEED, or Quess in CCA).
