A lot of anti-gay people are only anti-gay against gay men. They don't really care that much about lesbians. That's why most gay couples in kids shows and movies are women, because the concept of a homosexual woman is much more digestible to the average person than homosexual men, who in real life have caused at least two pandemics (HIV-AIDS and Monkeypox) due to being, frankly, very disgusting people. Besides, these depictions of lesbians are very cartoony and unrealistic. Someone might dislike those weird Tumblr witches who dig up skulls and cast hexes on political figures and try to duel Allah in the spirit realm, but still play a game with magic just fine. Most real life lesbians are nothing like how they are depicted here.

While it's true that he can be seen as a trans allegory, he can also be equally seen as just a David Bowie-esque guy. Also, he's only an allegory. A ghost possessing a robot is nothing like what those people do in real life.
