I rewatched this recently and maybe this is supposed to be obvious but I'm just now realizing that the alien is human-tier smart

>knows to get on the shuttle when the ship is self-destructing
>AND knows not to kill Ripley because she's the one who knows how to pilot the shuttle

People on here meme on Ash's speech about the alien being the perfect organism but it does actually seem to be highly intelligent
