I agree racism can be taught, and I think it has to do with the Political atmosphere, be that the atmosphere of 1930s Germany, or 2020s America.
Or to put it another way, when Jim Crowe or slavery were the law of the land, if you had one black parent and one white parent you would say you were white if you had the choice because that is what you believe would provide the most benefit. If you're in that same situation now you will identify as black
