In the Discovery doc they mentioned they found a part of stocktons shirt with a pen still in his pocket and a titan patch on the arm. The bodies were mashed to a soluble paste most of which just washed away. This is in keeping with their desire to join the titanic passengers since thier bodies are gone too having been dissolved by bacteria and eaten by sea life.
