The space age in the US is over. Back in the late 60s everyone thought that Star Trek was the next logical step after going to the Moon. Turns out it wasn't and by the 80s, it was all dead. Blacks were finally turned into real citizens and the culture war was over for those trekkies. The new blacks are the trannies and the main theme is equality under communism.
Once the trannies are accepted in 65% of the world, another youth culture will emerge.
