My assumption is that since I firstpicked aphelios my random support (not being able to see that I'm an aphelios main with a decent winrate - thank you riot for anonymous champ select) assumed I'm just "another retarded firsttimer trying him due to the buffs" and decided to play nidalee (which he never plays) with glacial augment and font of life (which nidalee cannot proc).
The game however automatically swapped out his glacial for first strike, it does the same with aftershock on champs that cannot proc it (it gives them grasp instead). We played the game out normally with me recalling for boots cull while nidalee largely left the lane from that point onward, winning the top side of the map for us.
This conviction that the average aphelios player is a clueless retard is very real and common, I literally had a talk about it with the enemy support next game even.
It's also far from unfounded, as someone who knows the champion very well by now the frequency at which I face an aphelios that I can tell knows what he's doing is... once in a few months. The fact that I usually am playing him myself obviously plays a part in that but still.

No, I'm not playing in doratheexplorerlow where the game is a bloodbath over no objectives and ARAMing it after tier 1s fall is mandatory.
I chilled in lane while nidalee was taking over the map with sylas and volibear, while kaisa was weak early with the setup she ran, samira struggled to get anything done because she had almost literally 0 setup from her team and zyra couldn't dig me out from under my turret but also couldn't match nidalee roams.
As mid and lategame came around sylas-voli-nidalee were getting kills without any involvement from me so I was just patiently farming and showing up to team objectives where appropriate. It's not the most exciting way to play but it was the correct one for the situation.
