I would argue that point as well, I don't think people are actually taught how to fail properly IRL either, which is, in and of itself, a larger problem that creates self-esteem issues because any perceived failure is catastrophic due to having had no safety-nets or coping mechanisms teaching them that it's okay to fail.

This translates into their experiences within video games and then into their interactions with others inside those video games and content, and you can see it in crash-outs, finger-pointing, etc etc

Agree to disagree if you want, but I feel that the average person doesn't want to try something they might fail at simply because of that chance, and it causes stagnation from both consumer end and design end.
