They’re an enthusiast’s handgun, there are more reliable, cheaper, higher capacity, guns on the market. You have to be into them to be willing to deal with 1911isms, but particularly 10mm 1911s I have had this slide stop issue. I think it’s the recoil forces involved that wiggle the slide stop like this. This is like the third one with this issue, one of them was caused by the slide stop touching rounds in the mag. If it’s mostly reliable, a government length .45 should be easily, then it’s a range toy and a gun to fuck around on your desk, doesn’t need to be 100% to do that. For a carry gun it needs to be 100% which with some luck and sending back to the manufacturer a few times you’ll get.
I really like shooting them, I like how the slide feels racking it, I like the look of them, I like how they balance and spin on my finger - I have a habit of spinning guns and spun a unloaded 1911 at the range by habit.
Bill Wilson has never let me down. The three Wilson Combats I’ve have have never had any issues. I cannot say the same for Dan Wesson, Colt, Nighthawk, or Tisas. Sometimes I wonder what the fuck I’m doing with these things and that I should get a HK45C or FNX45 or something. Then I shoot them again and not want to shoot anything else.
