Update for anyone curious:
I unplugged the internal degauss coil, and that stopped the color blotches from resetting every time I powered on. Unfortunately, I could only clear one side at a time. If I degaussed one side, the blotches would shift to the other, and the problem just kept moving around instead of going away.
I tried adjusting the yoke as well, but it was firmly glued in place, likely from the epoxy on the rubber stoppers. I was able to move it slightly, but it made no difference on the screen.
At this point, I suspect the shadow mask or aperture grille may be damaged, possibly from a drop or heat stress. The set is in great cosmetic condition and the image beneath the impurity looks good, but nothing I tried worked. It’s a frustrating situation.
