They're extremely marketable, that's what. Ratchet is a manlet, so is Toro, and they were the brand's mascots for years. Even Sonic and Mario are manlets. Astro Boy absolutely works as a mascot and the newer games in particular have proven that because he is identifiable both as himself and he can wear other people's appearances naturally.
