Yeah pretty much. It would also make every story in the series retroactively pointless and hopeless. It'd be like a vr game trying to replace reality. Those stories always end with reality being the preferential choice to the escapism. It's why I have to assume it's somehow just metaworld fuckery and not the reality of the situation
