It’s been that way since the beginning. I think the back bio just says Special Friend of She-Ra. I guess back then they didn’t want little girls getting She-Ra wrapped up in relationships. Filmation’s unused story lines had her winding up with Sea Hawk so that’s what Classics ran with and is currently the roadmap for Mattel’s current lore.
