mike was never really built up all that much desu, people went wild over a couple spamton lines because they thought toby would follow the "schizoboss hints at the future" pattern forever. meanwhile gaster is the first thing you see when you start the game, he literally tells you it's HIS DELTARUNE, there's no way to go "lol nvm none of that mattered" without severely cheapening the plot
