Romance has always been Toby's worst subject writing wise, so it's sorta surprising how much focus the romance gets by the fans. I say sorta, because I know women exist and they still think the Titanic is so romantic. Yet when I watched it, it was a fucking horror movie to me.
I'm much more interested in Deltarune's narrative themes. I love Undertale's take on morality because anyone who isn't a shitposter and gets to the end of Genocide knows that it's not preachy, it very much points out that morality has no bearing on what you're doing due to the lack of real consequences you could face. Which I find to be a way more interesting idea and a much more refreshing take than the pretentious shit Spec Ops tried to pull.
I hope Deltarune will also give me a genuinely fascinating subject to think about. It seems to be taking on the idea of "trying to do everything in the game" again, but from a different angle. To find Gaster, what lengths do we go through?
I don't doubt Toby will deliver on that, so I'll endure the bad romance writing. Undertale had that too anyways, Alphys and Undyne are so hollow together it feels like a prank.

Even if Ralsei being the headband might be dead, it's still more logical than him being the knife like I've seen in some other theories
The only thing it's got going for it is that Kris hides the knife from us in his inventory, which just proves he can hide items in general and presumably whatever the actual object is ALONG with the knife
It only really makes sense if you assume he's going to backstab you or something and Chapter 4 showed he's just fucking terrified of the inevitable prophecy and wants you to be happy until it happens

All of these areas are fine in isolation but the order that it happens combined with a tearjerker that only works AFTER you've completed True Pacifist is, in my eyes, a genuine blemish. I don't want Toby to go 100% serious until the end, but I think the mixture of comedy relief in chapter 4 is frankly the perfect amount of it for where we are in the story, and hopefully a similar ratio can be maintained going forward.

It's trying to get you to do side content like the Weird Route to break fate so all hell can break loose, like how Genocide ended.
