Romance has always been Toby's worst subject writing wise, so it's sorta surprising how much focus the romance gets by the fans. I say sorta, because I know women exist and they still think the Titanic is so romantic. Yet when I watched it, it was a fucking horror movie to me.
I'm much more interested in Deltarune's narrative themes. I love Undertale's take on morality because anyone who isn't a shitposter and gets to the end of Genocide knows that it's not preachy, it very much points out that morality has no bearing on what you're doing due to the lack of real consequences you could face. Which I find to be a way more interesting idea and a much more refreshing take than the pretentious shit Spec Ops tried to pull.
I hope Deltarune will also give me a genuinely fascinating subject to think about. It seems to be taking on the idea of "trying to do everything in the game" again, but from a different angle. To find Gaster, what lengths do we go through?
I don't doubt Toby will deliver on that, so I'll endure the bad romance writing. Undertale had that too anyways, Alphys and Undyne are so hollow together it feels like a prank.

In fact, that's my entire story with franchise - I hated it and refused to play it since the release and until the last year (and I somehow poisoned myself on it completely on my own, I neither listened to /v/ nor I interacted with rabid fanbase), and then I actually played Undertale and got hooked hard.

That's surprising. Most people I know are the complete opposite. Any reason in particular why you liked it?
