Even among the grim turn halfway through the story, which is pretty by the numbers in terms of JRPG stories, there were still plenty of jokes involving the darkners of the Church, not just with Gerson and Jackenstein. The Ink & Quill guys, the return of the water cooler, the prophecy itself predicting stupid shit like Lancer saying Toothpaste Boy, and Kockington growing a beard.
Hell, even picrel happens in some places where you climb the titan's tower. It took itself seriously to have a true emotional moment, but it somehow overshadowed people's perceptions of some inherent comedy that was still happening around the place. Does it really stand out this much when it's gone for a moment when facing the antagonist?

I've got a lot going on in my life right now so I barely had time for myself, but I had a fun time. All the TP restriction stuff in chapter 4 annoyed me, but it was fun for the first fight just because the sentence mixed pumpkin guy made me laugh.

I also liked that even when things got serious, the Titan climb segment had the time to make a silly face with the fireballs and cracks with picrel. I can't believe this si the halfway point of the story either, that Titan fight would have been final boss tier alone.
