The reason Ralsei told Susie to wait for him instead of healing Kris on her own is because if they move further through the Dark World without him, he won't be able to destroy the prophecies ahead of them.
It wasn't because Susie's healing sucks, it's because he knows it's destined to improve in Chapter 4 no matter what and he just doesn't know when.
If her healing improves enough to fix all of Kris's wounds in the case they get separated from Ralsei and hurt again, they'll go further into the Dark World alone and possibly see the final tragedy. He's been trying to stop them from seeing it from the moment he stepped in.

Simple enough, but some mad bastards found there is an entirely silent .mp3 that plays when this happens. It's a single strum of a guitar.
So, friggin' obviously it's Dess, but why the guitar? The Knight has so many other methods of communicating with Kris. For what purpose? Why the literal last string of humanity?
Dess is not in control, and she's calling out for Kris, or the player, to keep moving forward.
Kris isn't trying to destroy the world with the dark. He's trying to find a way to separate Dess from the Knight.

Of course when Chapter 5 comes out it will turn out some other bullshit happened and Gaster can play the guitar or something, but for now, I think possessed Dess, (PoDessed, if you will) might be the answer.

Either way, now you must start a fresh CH 2 save and do an aborted Weird Route. Now with the ThornRing and Pure Crystal, you can create the Twisted Sword. Presumably giving us an alternate CH 3 (If the Jackenstein fight is actually correct)
This will end with Kris being strong enough to survive whatever the fuck is going to happen to him, breaking the prophecy and unleashing the consequences that come with that. The route will most likely end with Kris usurping our control, keeping the SOUL but without us able to influence them. This is due to the Twisted Sword's Trance Down effect. Will his life still be completely fucked? Yeah probably but at least he's free now!

And now we're up to par on who Carol is, and how it links to the purpose of the Knight, let's move on to the traits that often throw people off, shall we?
First off, and by my opinion, the biggest one, is how the Knight is able to go into the Light World and Dark World easily, whereas Dess is completely lost in the dark, within the very code of the game, she can't see, can't do anything but sometimes hear US scratching into the code of the game as it moves along, in real-time, that is.

As for the armor, the only one capable of pulling such a thing over the knowledge instead of just consumed by darkness goop, is also Carol, for all we know it could be a cutting-edge lingerie that morphs into an armor(that was a joke, don't take it too seriously).
I would also like to highlight something else.

i have friends to talk about deltarune with but they want to talk about stuff like "haha wasn't that one tenna joke funny" (i mean, don't get me wrong, i like talking about that stuff too)

Dess has been shown from chapter 1 to be trapped within the game code, lost to the darkness somehow where she can't do much, her themes being Lost Girl and Find Her
Yet, and yet! People automatically go for Dess as prime suspect because of the stupid bat that automatically turns into a sword!
There are more candidates than that, you know? Because whoever it is, it's just wearing an armor with a helmet! Even Carol herself can be a red herring since her horns match the Knight's armor, another one would be Carol being insanely fast for some reason
The closet locations where the Knight hides at times as well, it's clear that whoever it is, it's at least an adult, given large person!
Even Asriel can be a candidate and can be a reason that Kris half-asses his praying for him, because he knows he's fine and is just crashing on the junker, going out of town can be an excuse too

How do I mentally get over the giant wait between story chapters? I only just picked up the game a week and a half ago and I suspected it would bother me, but I jumped in anyways and here I am. I can't even imagine having to wait 4 years for 3/4.

Is chapter 5 going to come out in 2026, or it's going to be 4 years?
