However, the rematch is probably going to be 100x easier since it's going to be a mandatory story progression boss not tied to any specific route compared to the chapter 3 fight where winning the fight is completely optional.

Asgore thinks that Dess went missing and is lost in the Dark World. Carol knows that Dess is alive and has become The Knight. Carol wants to get her daughter back to normal, and is trying to somehow twist the Prophecy and the magic evil crystals she's found as a means to that end.
Asgore telling everybody that the Dark World is real and that the Shelter which she and The Knight seem to be using as a base is the way to access it would be a major complication. She had Undyne kidnapped and seems to still be targeting Toriel because they know the other codes needed to get into the Shelter, and if anyone else (specifically us) can get in, it would be a problem.
