Eram is the only one I know of that actually gets easier, and it's by adjusting how frequently the health candies drop from FRIENDs instead of adjusting damage.
With Titan if you lose a bunch it spawns health items in chests before you rechallenge him, again without adjusting damage. To my knowledge, Jackenstein is the first time that losing actually adjusts his damage.

I genuinely do not understand the change with the rhythm minigame at the castle town. I mean, what's the point? Whenever you get in one of those minigames both Susie and Ralsei are present, so why whouldn't they be there too? The only possible explanation that I can think of is that there's gonna be an instance where either Susie or Ralsei are not gonna be present, but you're still gonna be able to enter Castle Town and play the rhythm minigame, so, to simplify things, they just made it so that Kris is the only one there, meaning you don't have to handle the lack of certain characters when the player tries to play the rhythm game in the future.

I liked all the chapters equally because they were all doing different things and had their own strengths.
If I had to pick one I disliked replaying the most it would be chapter 3, but only because all three replays are identical. And even then, it's worth it for the weather duo, controller shenanigans, and Knight fight. Taken individually with no replays, the game starts solid and just gets better over each chapter.

I've noticed everyone seems to call the starts of their favourite media the weakest parts. I think people just kinda forget that a lot of that setup was what hooked them, and they're only viewing it in retrospect from the heights the story was trying to build up to. Chapter 1 does a great job of introducing you the world of Deltarune, Dark Worlds, and the characters. I still feel my heart ache when I see Susie give up on beating down Lancer and saying "I don't wanna kill you man". It's a great moment that shows Susie finally letting her guard down. I live for story moments like that.

I think you're mistaking how video games actually share their world to you, especially for RPGs. Immersing yourself in that world, talking to people, piecing together what they have to say, that's all part of an actual RPG experience. This isn't like the FNAF lore slop where it's being cryptic on purpose, Deltarune is literally giving you more information so you can understand its world better. The only reason people are going so corkboard theory on all what should be basic story beats is because people are so brainrotted by the thing you assume I'm deeming important.

Learning the backstory or eronious details about characters you've met in a story isn't "gametheory discussion food", it's letting you learn about the character so you can evaluate their place in a story. Games giving hints to hidden things they want you discover is normal game design. A story explaining important concepts and rules to how it works is the absolute minimum, especially in a fantasy setting where there are impossible things happening that need explaining. I am engaging Deltarune as an RPG, not as something to be solved.

I definitely understand why would you think that because how ch3 has less supporting cast than ch2, and half of the chapter is spent in like 4 rooms. But honestly, I can appreciate Toby trying something different and not redo chapter 2. The only legitimate issue I had with chapter 3 is how the weird is almost exactly the same as normal route, except for three instances where there is different dialogue.

Still, I loved both Legend of Tenna and Shadow Mantle quest (which has to be one of favorite things in UT/DR). It's pretty obvious that chapter 3 went through development hell with the amount of cut content, like a cowboy area. I wish the third board game didn't get cut either, and made it optional since it was cut for pacing reasons. It's pretty obvious that the Susiezilla minigame was meant for board 3.

Not him, but 3 is also my least favourite chapter. The problem is that it's like UT genocide where I can see what Toby is going for, but I'd appreciate more if it weren't so repetitive and dull. I really do like the story it tells, and I definitely enjoyed the Sword minigame and the TV World dungeon. Hell, Tenna is probably my favourite character in the game. When I got past board 2, I felt like it was time to move on, and the game indeed did. Not surprised to hear it was a very deliberate decision. If there's one thing Robert knows it's pacing. My biggest issue with chapter 3 was that there were no saves during the board sections. It makes it annoying to replay if you want to go for S ranks for the shadow mantle side route and you don't manage to hit them on your first try. And I too would have preferred for the weird route to have had more impact. But maybe it simply wasn't feasible. Outside of that I liked it a lot.

Playing chapter 2+3 again, I'm starting to question if Kris is actually falling apart/feeling lethargic purely because of this notion that he can't live without us or if there's a simpler reason than that. 3 and 4 all happen effectively on one day and 2 happens the previous afternoon if I got the timeline right.

I think it's as simple as (You) are starving him because we don't feel his hunger and aren't aware that he's starving. Susie is eating almost every actual piece of food in the game. Kris, if you add everything up, eats a bite of pancakes, maybe Darkner food but that's entirely optional and we're not sure that's "real", and a glass of chocolate milk. That's less than 600 real calories for two days. If the game's purpose is to change the way (We) treat Kris, then there could be hidden interaction with food in the Light World that the game is keeping track of that will become important later to keep Kris from passing out.

To be fair, I don't think his reasons for changing the thorn-stabbing animation are entirely clear. And it could be many things, really. I think what he eventually settled on works well, given how dramatic it is. Maybe he wanted a similarly dramatic effect using more subtle but thematically-fitting imagery. You know, thorn -> rose, you get the idea. But the first version fell short and people got the wrong impression of what was happening. And the second version was too minimalist. But you could also argue that despite rape not actually taking place, it could have been intentional to use rape symbolism to convey Kris forcing Noelle under his command, because it would contrast and fit thematically with the emotional intimacy between the characters established earlier in the scene. But I don't think that was at all intentional.

Meanwhile the major chapter 2 Darkners assume all Lightners have human levels of determination.
