Deltarune humans are mechanically a combination of Undertale humans and monsters, in that they have a physical body and a soul, but removal of the soul removes their love, compassion, and other positive attributes while allowing the physical body to live. The original Bunker incident caused Kris' original soul to be ripped out of his body, and now he's basically in a state similar to Flowey in terms of being soulless. The difference is that Flowey spent countless timelines fucking around with everyone before Frisk fell into the underground, whereas Kris is still self-aware enough that he should feel something, he wants to feel something, but he can't. Lashing out at us is because he's afraid he'll never get his original soul back and will be stuck with us permanently, and he's afraid that means he will no longer be himself.

I don't know what to feel about chapter 4. I didn't want it to be exactly the same as chapter 3 so I guess I didn't expect anything. I liked a lot of the individual moments and the darkness and climbing gimmicks, but I really don't like when these kinds of stories get done with the fun characters and shift focus to the ancient eldritch evil with no personality. I also don't care for the trope of the elderly master who pretends to be senile just to fuck with you. Overall Toby pulled it off pretty well but still these couple of cliches felt tiresome.

Castle Town is actually directly connected to the bunker, and the main dark fountain that initially created Castle Town is the one in the bunker. There are multiple entrances to the bunker all around the city, because it would make sense for a bomb shelter to have multiple entrances in schools/government buildings/important places, and that's why you also hear the bunker noise in the Holiday house basement (because the mayor had an entrance built specifically for her family in case anything bad happened).

The rooms ralsei is setting up for Kris, Susie, Lancer, Queen, etc are literally rooms in the bunker for people to sleep in in case of a disaster. The locked door in Castle Town leads to the original fountain that was opened in the bunker.

This explains why Ralsei is able to move around and meet up with the gang in different parts of the town, because there are a series of tunnels running underneath Hometown that have entrances all over town.

Second fountain is made in the library computer room, but important it was made after Noelle and Berdly already showed up otherwise they wouldn't be asleep at the desks when they all wake up. Therefore it would've also have needed to be made by someone who wouldn't be out of place in the computer room where their presence wouldn't be suspicious to Noelle and Berdly.
