>oblivious to Kris and Susie's emotional distress
She's not oblivious, she's just not prepared in any way to handle it appropriately because she's drunk as a skunk
>(Asgore can tell when Kris is unwell)
Asgore can tell when he hears Kris pulverizing the Holiday's trash can. Before that he doesn't even notice Kris is standing there outside of the church until Toriel is long gone.
Toriel is well aware in general that Kris hasn't seemed like themself lately. She's happy to that they've been making new friends as a result, but she's still concerned enough to ask the hospital about it.
I wish people could talk about this scene honestly without exaggeration or letting their personal issues get involved. It's obviously not typical behavior for Toriel and the people villainizing her for it are out of line, but Toriel herself would never make excuses for it either. This is the woman who holds her child's hand walking into high school and gets worried when they don't come right home, she's going to feel just as ashamed that she behaved like that in front of Kris and Susie as Kris was to see it.
