There's an implication that dark worlds themselves can be thought of a video game. The darkners aren't real so it doesn't matter if you go through and kill them. No different to how you might think playing Mantle is justified in a pacifist run as well.

He seems to genuinely like Kris.
He's implied to be responsible for supplying power to the TV world; all the screens turn off when he turns to stone or disappears.
It's not clear what Kris did to rub off so well on Ramb, or what Ramb thinks he's helping Kris accomplish by giving access to the real game, but he seems to know something truly important is in there.
Really it seems like he's overall just fairly smart and has been around awhile, like Seam.

The chapters have been consistent that an Undertale-style "pacifist" run is not a thing. As long as you recruit all the fodder enemies you can kick the shit out of all the bosses and still get the "good" endings. And the Knight and Titan can only be beaten with violence, while Gerson punishes you if you try to just defend every turn. The only exception is Berdly (a lightner) and violence is still the best way to take down Queen's shield.

Because while we're in control of Kris' body the narration tries to make it seem like he's our self-insert. There's a lot of "You drank the hot chocolate" and "You read the book" when Kris is the one doing the actions, because we're in control of him at the time. Kris manipulating the information we get from these lines of narration is a major plot point throughout the game.
