I'm not even seeing it from a Suselle vs Krusie lens, just from a storytelling perspective. At least with the character development we've got so far, given how Noelle projects a lot of Dess traits onto Susie to cope with her disappearance, getting rejected seems like the better story to tell, in order for Noelle's character to advance past that.
