I’m not fully a believer of “Kris swooned Susie and Ralsei after the Knight fight” theory but I can’t stop thinking about Ralsei’s dialogue in that scene. Susie gets swooned and Ralsei seems surprised and says “H-How could you?” as if the Knight wasn’t just trying to beat the shit out of them two seconds ago during the fight. It’s a very odd dialogue choice and an odd scene in general. I think the visual of the sword coming from behind is at least meant to imply some ambiguity or symbolize Kris backstabbing the group by working with the Knight. Kris also does not step in to protect Susie like they did against the Chaos King.

I'll be honest, I lean heavily on the "Kris did it" side mainly because I think that's the more interesting option. Kris clearly cares about Susie and even Ralsei, so knocking their friends out suggests a lot about the strength of their commitment to their "promise." It would also set up Ralsei potentially switching to (Our) side over Kris's, since he seems really broken up about it if you talk to him after the cutscene. Plus it adds another layer to Toriel suddenly having a nightmare if you beat the Knight instead of sleeping peacefully when you lose. It's the most interesting option narratively even if the evidence doesn't fully add up.

For some reason, his writing talent goes to absolute shit whenever lesbians are involved. I don't know why, but he goes from writing normally good chemistry and believable interactions to just making characters change into whatever is most immediately convenient.

Like, even if you like susie there are clearly better ways you could have done that than just making susie suddenly start liking everything noelle does after meeting her once. Or you could have at least shown her actually treating noelle better before the dark world in chapter 2.
Or hell, you could have at least not pretended that susie was "nice scary" before chapter 1 lmao. There's one fucking day between susie beating kris against a locker and the ferris wheel ride.

While I'm shilling though, I recommend checking the uploader's profile and playing their fangame NEW DF. It's no OFF, but it had the same effect on me as Undertale Yellow in reigniting my interest in the game. Not that Yellow and NEW are really comparable as types of fangames, they just had the same effect for me in relation to the original works.

the main character flaw restated is related to the paladin nature but its more that shes the kind of person that could commit nearly any act if she were convinced that it was the right thing to do. she does turn around of course, but you can see those personality traits. in undertale shes doing it for the good of getting that final soul but you can see characters like that getting tricked by a greater evil into committing horrible deeds because they thought they were on the right track. I think toby wrote this intentionally in contrast to the idea of normal rpg heroes, but it doesn't get highlighted very much in how its dangerous because ultimately the monsters were in a bad position and she recanted, but its still a personal failing fitting for a paladin in a story.
