Seam was the one that had it before it was taken. And Seam may actually have belonged to Dess before being donated to the classroom like Kris' old kid books. So the Shadow Mantle may be something else that Dess used to own as well.

for the weird route do i need to fight every single enemy or how does that work exactly? does it stop working if i mercy a single monster like genocide route in undertale or what?

People tend to do Normal full recruit/spare on one save, and then Kill everyone/weird route on another since there is different dialogue and plot deviations depending on if youve spared everyone or not.
Weird Route's onboarding is entirely contained in chapter 2 and you only need to "kill" darkners in chapter 2.

Kris and the others never have to get violent against regular enemies. Chapter 1 has no weird route content at all. In chapter 2, after Noelle joins your party, start by going left and freeze every enemy using Noelle's magic, and then use Snowgrave the one time it's available. In conversations, basically always choose the option that fixates on Kris and Noelle.

Deltarune will be perfectly playable either way, but the genocide route is the highlight of Undertale, and I say that as someone who did enjoy normal/pacifist a lot as well.
If you haven't done it you're just missing out on a huge chunk of the game, and yeah, tons of interesting information that may or may not end up relevant to Deltarune.

It sounds way worse than it is. Genocide route is really short because most of the puzzles and side content and stuff is skipped, and the "grinding" you have to do goes incredibly quickly because you quickly become overpowered compared to any normal monsters and they die near instantly.
