Yet another SBAHJ reference, as is common for him. Last one was foreshadowing the defeat of the Titan, so this line and the next line may also prove to be relevant in the near future. Jockington states that he is going to church in place of Catti, as she "can't" go. The fact this is showcased as something Catti is unable to do, as opposed to unwilling to do, furthers her themes to the satanic and paranormal.

Very subtle reference to the prophecy here. Jockington states that he can't be "covered in hair", and thus Catti acts as his substitute player for it, implying he would enjoy being covered in hair. When taking into account that the prophecy states Jockington will "grow the beard", this becomes a very interesting line. If Jockington CAN indeed grow hair, then they're not doing "What, the other can n't!" but simply what they believe they can't do themselves. This implies that Catti could, indeed, "go the big Church Match."

Since last "ball Game" was Titan related, but also related to a real sports match, it is very possible this is foreshadowing a "big Church Match" against Catti in the near future.

Childhood friend to lovers is bad because of how it's usually written, which is that the dude just has the girl in his lap the whole time and is already treating her like his girlfriend but then only realises at the end.
Rivals/enemies at least actually goes through the effort of establishing a dynamic to the relationship first, which leads to fun friction and flirting/pushing each others boundaries. It's more active and dynamic.

And that's why estranged friends to lovers is the second best trope, only behind "mutual unrequited love". You get to watch characters coming to terms with understanding their own feelings and trying to disentangle what they feel about the person now from what they felt about them before.

Then, a chapter later, we have ERAM saying "There! That's what I wanted to see!" when commenting on the fire in Kris's eyes. I think that's decent evidence for ERAM being Friend. Been thinking about the Titan fight and why some people have felt it's underwhelming

I think it has to do with DT so far doing a poor job at selling the real stakes of the story. The whole game so far is about teenagers fucking around in a boonies town playing in imaginary worlds. The prophecy to save the world doesn't feel compelling when the world doesn't seem to be at that huge risk, when we haven't actually seen yet the consequences of fountains and the dark in light worlds, and so far the real driving force of Deltarune seems to be the character's personal journeys. Like, yeah, the world's gonna end but nothing *feels* urgent so far, the big bad antagonist is hiding inside closets.

As someone who thought the Titan fight was underwhelming, I have to agree. The game DOES do a good job at showing the destruction caused by the Titan right afterwards, what with the church being obliterated and whatnot, but I feel like it would have been better to do that kind of stuff at the start of Chapter 4 instead.
If we had seen the Dreemurr house completely torn apart, TV smashed to pieces, figurines thrown about, that would have been really compelling to establish the Knight (and therefore the Titans) as a current threat. The place where both chapters ended previously, Kris's home, would no longer feel safe or like home at all. I feel like Toby wrote himself into a corner by wanting Toriel to not find out about the dark worlds, preventing Chapter 3 from having any real light world effects on anyone beyond Kris, Susie, and Undyne.
Because of that, the effects of the Titan wrecking apart the Light World are only ever presented as a vague possibility 2 chapters before it's relevant, and as a past threat that is no longer relevant right after the Titan is defeated. Ultimately though, the bullet patterns being piss easy also makes it feel incredibly underwhelming, considering the Knight was far harder. The characters being hopeless despite the SOUL dodging every single attack up to that point also ruins immersion.

I appreciate the idea, but I feel people jump to conclusions when seeing Asgore listed as a boss. Asgore is yet to obtain a redemption. He has done something or been framed for something, that much is clear. What Asgore seeks is vindication. He (perhaps along with Carol) knows something that other don't. If you think back, Ch. 1 Boss was King, Ch. 2 was Queen, Ch. 3 was Tenna. The pattern is that the most powerful Darkners define their world, establishing an alliance with the Knight. I don't believe Jevil and Spamton to count, as their power is somewhat boosted through the Shadow Crystals. If, indeed, the boss of a Chapter is someone who the knight is allied with (or at least tried to) and is the strongest Darkner there, defining it, who is Chapter 4 Boss? Gerson. And not because he is the secret boss. The knight attempted to establish an alliance with Gerson. Gerson is the strongest Darkner in his World, even besting the Titan, and showing dominion in his realm. He is also who defines the world. Yes, they are in a church, but Gerson dedicated his life to the Prophecy, and making it come to life through Lord of the Hammer. The whole Chapter is about questioning said prophecy, and what does Gerson do? Smash it. He certainly acknowledges it, and deeply respects it, shown by his dialogue, but he is convinced there is more to it. Blank pages to write. Hence, he is who defined the Dark World, he is the boss of Chapter 4. What does this have to do with Asgore? Well, none of the bosses really had evil in their minds. King was the worst to suffer, perhaps corrupted by the Shadow Mantle, but definitely by the Knight. The whole dark world resonates with a tint of nostalgia, of past, passive times, when the King was content in a unified kingdom. The knight used his grief to turn him against the Lightners. Likewise, the knight exploited Queen's greed and desire to expand her kingdom through Darkness.-

She clearly had no ill intentions, being led to believe she was the heroine of the story, bringing happiness to everyone. It is when Ralsei explains the Roaring that she backs down, clearly recieving new information. Tenna is the quickest to dismiss the knight. He already kind of knew Kris, and in a way, they are the same. They are both victims of a broken family (two, at that). The knight, again uses this, which briefly works, but Tenna is the quickest to shrug it off. Then comes Gerson, who fully rejects the knight. But he doesn't fully act against him either. Yes, he mentors Susie and aids in defeating the Titan, but never direct confrontation with the knight. The bosses from each chapter are increasingly rejecting the knight. From a corrupted tyran, loyal to the knight even 4 chapters deep. To a ruler who was lied to, used for her power. To a bried follower, when interests coincided. To a passive rejector of the knight. Indeed, the halfway point has beend reached. Perhaps, starting now, bosses of a world are redefined, now standing against the Knight. I believe Asgore will be the first of these bosses. He deserves redemption ever since 2015 (Undertale), and is 11 years due (counting 2026). I believe that as with every other Boss, the Knight will reach out to Asgore, but like Gerson, he will not fall. He knows what is at stake. He would never harm Kris or his Dino friend. The roaring Knight, however, is a powerful force. The Knight has a plan, and whatever it is, it is my belief that Ch. 5 is when they would enact it. However, Asgore locks the Knight into combat. That is his asylum. Asgore is using up the Knight's energy, foiling their plan. The quest is probably to save Asgore from that asylum.-

Considering that this man has massive ties with Dess, perhaps he’s an optional encounter that would intend to stop you by remembering the Knight, and you trying to end her. Which is the most Papyrus thing possible.

To give some more context on how potentially broken he is. Gaster considers Papyrus to be an issue to interact with. You can interact with anything without causing an issue, all except meeting him. So FRIEND, beating the Knight, ERAM, Snowgrave, etc. They don’t have anything Gaster considers as too unstable. But he does for this man just for showing up behind the tree.
