So lets imagine Metal Gear Delta sells good, so what? Metal Gear is still dead. We're probably only due to get one more Metal Gear Remake and that's it. Konami doesn't have the talent to make more demanding remakes only easy to make ones like MGS3. For Konami to remake more Metal Gear games the gameplay must essentially be modern already and the voiced lines must be from the old games to be reused. Sounds like MGS3, 4 and 5 is where it stops. Though the graphics of MGS5 are too good to remake and the story of that game is hated.

Don't see 5 getting a remake because the story is aggressively hated. The story of 5 is intentionally incomplete with gaps in the timeline and whenever you think something serious is going to happen nothing comes of it or the game decides its reached the ending. So the story alone is divisive. Remaking that sounds like a headache. And most Metal Gear fans don't even consider the game worthwhile. It has the best realized gameplay of the series but since its so aimless and meandering around storywise many fans don't care for this game. And Metal Gear is mostly a story driven series. Fuck up the story the fans will turn on it.

The problem is Konami doesn't have the talent not to make new sequels and much less to make original material. The impression I get with Konami is they are remaking the games that are easy to cash in on and then taking their gaming vault away to isolate and increase its value for future re-releases. I'm just not convinced that Konami is back. Silent Hill F doesn't inspire any hope if you ask me and last I checked that's not even truly made inhouse at Konami.

Dude I'm simply taking a guess. At the end of the day Konami is a business they simply want profit. And we know Metal Gear Delta will sell good due to fans being starved into nostalgia. But once that novelty is used up you can't help but wonder what will Konami make next. Because if Konami starts making Souls Like games I'm out. I fucking hate that genre so much especially by now.

I want new stuff or at the bare minimum a new evolved Zone of the Enders sequel to Second Runner holy hell that gameplay is fun.

It being the exact same game as the original turned me off completely. I got the Silent Hill 2 Remake day 1 and all the Resident Evil Remakes and the Final Fantasy 7 Remake/Rebirth as they were all actual new games. This is just like a remaster ilke Ocarina of Time 3D and Metroid Prime Remaster and Oblivion Remaster. Its the same game as the original game just with new visuals and minor gameplay changes. I'd just be bored playing it as all the story and environments and bosses and whatnot would be exactly the same.

I wish man, I want a new Rocket Knight I know it's not the most stellar series Konami has but its a fun one. Either that or a new full Suikoden but hey the man who created that sadly died so no dice.

I would even settle for Konami getting the license to Ninja Turtles and making a new 3D Ninja Turtles game that plays similar to Metal Gear Rising (hell Raiden three of the weapons of the Ninja Turtles the Sai, the Bo Staff, and the sword).

>The industry is out of ideas.

You are correct and the industry is due to for stagnation and maybe even a collapse. The industry has become uninspired and yet the prices keep going up? No way this lasts forever this is a bad trajectory. You can't charge so much money increasingly for the same old shit. Eventually the customer will be bored of it and become apathetic. And it really doesn't help too many companies are trying to imitate the open world bullshit for many genres.

I mean Suikoden Starleap which it's a gacha is apparently also a full game, the gacha elements are not in the story. they also announced a PC release so it's not just mobile, if it does well, they probably will do a new main game, the collection already did very good and I assume the anime is gonna do as much, so Suikoden fans are actually in a VERY good position right now.

If people actually took their time to read the developers interviews, it seems more like they are making this plain remake project just to get their feat back in the water before trying some newer things.
It's the team getting their gears less rusty and the last work of a few old chaps as they are passing their knowledge to new people. A few years from now and they for sure will have some original Metal Gear down the line

I think Covid screw them over, also I think the project pretty much was rebooted at one point as they originally just wanted to make a remaster,
Probably also took a lot of time to teach all the new folks on how to make a Metal Gear
I read somewhere that the game also originally was aiming 2024 but they took a year to polish it more and add more things, they did some video interview last year and it was apparently playable in it's entirety a year ago

No, but it's also a trivial difference. The only major thing Delta has to offer is the graphical upgrade, but for the most part I think the remake looks bland and a little lifeless. MGSV--for instance--is a much more striking game. So is the original MGS3. Delta looks better than The Twin Snakes, at least, but there's nothing interesting happening here.

They seem to be reducing the menuing, which should speed things up immensely.

I think the biggest problem is that the game opens with a massive 15-20 minute exposition dump explaining Cold War politics and how it relates to the Virtuous Mission. That whole scene really needed an editor.

Attention span isnโ€™t really the problem, itโ€™s just that a lot of the information could be streamlined. We donโ€™t need to know the whole story of Zero getting Sokolov over the Berlin Wall, or the part where after getting your backpack off the tree, The Boss gives you a near identical monologue to the one she gives you right before the final boss fight. They should have kept her latter speech, and either cut or trimmed the former one.

Kojima scripts often suffer from a problem where they all read like a first draft of a good script rather than a final version.

if they actually do a kojimbo with the MGS2 fake footage it would be hilarious
especially as they have the legacy mode too so they could very well hide any new content by showing the cutscenes of the legacy mode and hiding most of the new stuff from the regular mode
though realistically, most new things are gonna be extras in additional modes or features not directly impacting the story. I doubt they are playing the long keikaku, the risk is way too high when they want to revive Metal Gear

Personally, I think itโ€™s a nice middle ground.

All the recognisable components from the OG are still there and faithfully recreated, but it plays in a more modernised way with modern controls. I think the only thing missing from the clip is the subtle screen tint/haze that was present in the original.
