So Asgore as police chief basically fought Dess in her knight form after whatever incident made her that way, managed to defeat and chip off a black shard from her armor.
For some reason no one believes him (except for maybe Kris who was most likely present) and took the fall for the entire thing when it was actually Kris that caused it.
I really hope Toby doesn't just continue to humilliate Asgore for no reason, I really don't understand the point of shitting on the guy so much considering how much of a sympathetic character he is, both in Undertale and Deltarune

>>712979548Here's a secret for you: "earthbound-inspired indie rpg about depression" is a joke and not, in fact, a condemnation of some stale cliche. I'd think the fact that RPGMaker still exists would clue you in.
The real problem, more than anything else, is reaching the people who would in fact enjoy your shit. If you have high enough powerlevel to release it as freeware, it's no good if it's just gonna rot on mediafire's servers.
>>712981383Toby is hussie without the self-destructive mental illness. His power level is far beyond anyone's comprehension.
>>712981351Toby's actual art, as posted around (on the Starman forums, on his high school graduation wall, etc) isn't great, but it's pretty generic 2000s DeviantArt stuff. And it's clearly already got the grasp of layers and lights and whatnot, on top of the generic "invader zim plus anime wiggly arms" style that lined webpages back then. That's the best he could do 15 years ago and it is head and shoulders above the cryptic MS Paint shit he posts now where he acts like all the planning for his decade-long megamillion dollar fever dream game is really done in 10 seconds in Paint because it's that unimportant. it's irony poisoned.
>>712980459I've had multiple character arcs thoughbeitve'th
>>712981518>without the self-destructive mental illness. We've only just finished Deltarune's Gigapause. There's still plenty of time for things to go topsy-swervy, especially with the various direct fandom references in Ch.3/4.

Hear my little schizo theory out
>First time we meet the knight it's purely animalistic, even drooling on the floor and screaming.
>It only manages to show a real personality after the fight, "knighting" Kris.
>Then it kidnaps Undyne
>Next time we see it, it has more of an attitude, taunting Susie several times.
>Once even copying Dio
>It's basically acting like an anime villain now, down to the cockiness
What I propose is that "The Knight" is a parasite, perhaps using Dess as a base or perhaps not, and the "sacrifice" was basically Undyne being absorbed or parasitized in another way by The Knight. This way it can use a host, any host, to travel the light world and the Knight takes full form in the Dark World. And I think Eram is supposed to look like this parasite that can only really live on its own in the dark.

>>712981771That reminds me of those shitty RPG maker games Korone plays that last like an hour or so, the premise is always something like "what if the hero was a frog" or "what if the hero was lost"
Sometimes the guy puts effort like with "What if the hero was weak" as a premise that involves the weak hero and his strong party fighting the demon army, to get 3 crystal wishes, and then when you beat the game you get to start anew but as the strongest, and the tone of the story shifts, and it eventually leads to the heroes fighting the creator of the world for a right future.
It's basic, but it's the smaller projects that pave the way as practice.

Maybe, just maybe, despite the endless self-deprecation and cope about not being a multi-generationally successful quintillionaire entrepeneur, the hobby is still happy enough to tell you that the point of art is not success, quality, perfection, or anythig else material, but instead a form fo expression that you should be using to express what you can right now.

Well guess what, talent is not something mysterious thing whos touch makes an instant expert out of anyone. The only thing that builds SKILL is practice. You sit your ass down and do things again and again until you get better and gain more insights on how to improve further, "talent" only increases the speed of this process and "talent" is a curve anyway, not a binary thing. You can have a lot of talent for something and you'd still need loads of practice to actually get anywhere. Its like, you dont have to be a Beethoven level musical prodigy composing symphonies at seven to plink at a guitar and even he was practicing several hours every day since he was a toddler.
And if all you have to offer is excuses, please kindly go and hang yourself or something, don't take all the good air from people actually getting out and accomplishing something.

Talent is only real in the abstract. The only thing that matters is your motivation and hard work. You simply don't know how hard the people you admired worked to get where they are. Nobody is perfect the first time they just aren't
Nobody cares about your failures other than yourself it will be a footnote at best even if you become a superstar

People fail literally hundreds of thousands in things in their lives, from laughably trivial to gravely serious and they learned how to deal with it and move on.

>>712981839Skill = Talent x Effort
Talent can also be practiced and learned to some degree (basically learning how to learn better, what works best for you, etc)
Outside of being genetically predisposed to being better at sports or being born with 60 iq, I would argue that talent is really only how you were raised and your current life circumstances providing a better or worse environment for your mind to attach to different skills. Like if you had a parent who routinely taught you how to properly memorize stuff for homework and that has an impact on your coding skill later on.

Like, good luck being a basketball player if you're 5'4" or memorizing entire books without summarizing if you don't have an eidetic memory
But that said, for shit like playing music, or programming, or drawing, it's all really effort. The difference comes with how people consume energy to exert effort.
The so-called talented people fall into slumps now and then because for them, they never consciously exert effort, so when they're forced to exert effort manually, they simply can't.

Art, on the other hand, is 90% subjective by definition, and nothing stops an artist who learned to be good to claim that "Yeah i just have talent lmao" because hes either humble/clueless about his ability to learn, or a jackass that wants to sandbag other artists from emerging by claiming you have to be born with it, and how the fuck are you going to prove that he was "born" that way and not bullshitting? DRYanon2 from the yellow threads here.
you know what i've got going for me for my fangame? the fact that i've got a story i want to tell... and thats more or less it.
i cant do art, music composition is lost on me, im lazy, i dont even know if people will like what i write, and going into this i knew very little C# (meaning I'm going to need to rewrite quite a few scripts before i make a proper release of any kind)
i started making an ambitious fangame with almost no initial skill.
i had to use DRYanon1's sprites to kickstart things before i found a few people willing to help in the spriting field, and once im done with the base systems i'll have to make a tech demo to beg for musicians and more spriters before i can start working on a proper chapter 1.
but do you think i let any of that stop me?
nope, i've slowly been chipping away at this for the past year and a half, and now im closer to having the fangame's base systems complete than not.
has it taken longer than i wanted due to my own laziness? absolutely, but i've still not given up.
will i drop it if absolutely nobody likes what i put out? yeah, probably.
but at least i'd be able to say that i didnt give up before even knowing that i couldn't.
if you truly want to make something, then you have no excuse to not even try. NOBODY is so utterly pathetic that they genuinely cant find a way to express their creative desires.
there's something out there for you, even if its as simple as making the occasional green of an idea that pops in your head. maybe thats how you train your ability to write longer and longer stories
on the other hand, you know what you get from self depreciation like this? absolutely fucking nothing. you'll have nothing to show for your ideas if you look at the mountain and say "oh but its too hard! i'll never be as great as the guy that already climbed the mountain!!!" before even taking the first step.

Those who don't always fail, regardless of anything else, copes, fears, dreams, hopes, worldview, available resources etc. They are all, without except worthless, useless and pointless for those who don't even try. They are the true underclass of humanity, the pinnacle of slave mentality, those who enslave themselves, when success is available.

>>712986557>it's every dark world you've seen prior merging together
>>712985445Not him but I agree with both of you. I agree with you on the part that art is subjective, someone could show me a canvas where someone smearing shit on it, then show me the Mona Lisa, tell me to write an essay on why one is objectively better than the other, and I would never be able to do it even if I dedicated the rest of my life to it. But I also agree that there's mental differences between people, just like there's physical differences between people, in fact I would go even as far as to say that those mental differences are physical differences too, isn't the brain physical after all? But anyway, what I'm trying to say is, some people have a brain developed in such a way that they have inherent skills that some people cannot achieve no matter what(for example, extremely good short-term or even long-term memory), or they are simply able to learn certain skills at a faster level than other people. I don't think that's something that you can refute, there is plenty of actual evidence for it.

>>712987995>>712988083im in a similar boat, i think it would be quite nice to have asriel come in and save kris and co. it would be both a good contrast to him being the big bad final boss of undertale while also serving as a "conclusion" to this narrative that revolves around the characters and their escapism, depression etc. his arrival would signal a "return" to how it was however combined with all the growth the characters will have experienced in the 7 chapters leading up to the end it would be one stop beyond simply "return" and allow them to permanently change for the better and overcome their pasts
