As for how it connects to undertale, It's more in a "Meta" sense. Not so much in the "Oh the characters know they're in a re-imagining of undertale" or something, but there's a lot of thematic connections, leitmotifs, iconography that relate to undertale and twist or enhance their original meaning. You want to have played undertale not because the stories are literally connected, but because the way the story is told will give you a deeper appreciation if you're familiar with undertale primarily.

Mechanically yes, but Undertale's vibes are impeccable. Omega Flowey was just masterfully done, and the other two are extremely fitting finales for their routes. I dont think it can capture that same tone, but we'll see. I think it'll be genuinely incredible though, Toby's fever dream sounds cool.
