I still have no idea what the vessel/soul want in deltarune
Carol in particular speaks to kris (and kris deletes his call history to prevent the soul from finding out) but carol also seems to have an obsession with [heart shaped object]s and references (you) when she says kris is welcome any time
It seems that the vessel genuinely cares about noelle at least, and possibly has been deliberately avoiding her since being possessed. He also seems to care about susie by chapter 4, based on things like the closet scene.

But then why is he so antagonistic towards the soul? Is he tryting to replace his own soul? Is it just because we're controlling him, and not because of the actions we're doing? Stuff like saying the vessel will never play the piano again or playing the organ ourselves seems to uniquely piss the vessel off, as does hurting noelle. So why is he working with the knight (who put noelle in danger) and why does us trying to stop the knight cause him to try to stop us as well?

And what's the deal with the constant hand imagery anyway? The story of the phantom hand seems to be diagetic/metaphorical for kris' hand. And then combined with the gacha easter egg it seems to suggest something like the hand disappearing/deltarune symbol first being relevant/soul possessing kris all happening due to the same event.

How the hell is Toby such a good storyteller? I just finished chapter 4 and I am honestly in awe. I feel like I've been thrown a hundred feet in the air.

For a while I thought that Ralsei was lying about that suit of armour/statue not being Gerson. It seemed weird that it would destroy a part of the prophesy, run away, try to kill Susie, laugh just like Gerson, and then die in a unique way after Ralsei smashed it.

Given the way to get the good ending in Undertale was as simple as "don't kill anyone, and then Flowey will guide you on the next date you need to go on" we'll probably be fine.

Personally, I think that when chapter 7 releases, it'll start out with all previous Dark Fountains reopening, meaning we can go and explore the entire game again, and that's how we can catch up on getting certain items and secret bosses.

I'm posting the fixed version of this gif here, for anyone who wants it.
As I was making the original gif, I was so hyper-focused on Kris and Noelle that I wholesale didn't notice that the Noelle's room sprite doesn't include most of the furniture. I made the joke in another thread that, as a result of my fuckup, the canonical motive for the Raging Angel was that Kris pranked Noelle by gluing all her furniture to the ceiling. As I was fixing the gif, I also noticed Kris must have taken the time to remove her vent, spackle it shut, and paint over where it used to be. Tricksy little apple gremlin is truly dedicated to the art of the prank.
Anywho, Noelle now has all her proper furnishings and airflow is restored to normal. The kiss/hearts/blush edit is still forthcoming, I just wanted to get the original right first.

I think the shadow crystals have a high chance of being important because they're persistent items. The eggs won't matter but they give more context into Kris's past traumas.
But maybe none of the optional content will affect the ending, they're just there to give you more lore/perspective for those who really want to seek it out.

There's so many forgiveness mechanics in these games for casual audiences that love Toby's games, that I couldn't see him actually locking these casuals out of their happy ending by making them fight super bosses and touch every doo-dad in every room.

My best guess is the Shadow Crystals will lead to more super bosses and a lot more information for the hardcore audience about lore questions we've had forever. MAYBE a secret ending... but not the "good" ending.

Monsters canonically reproduce by attuning and combining their soul magic in an undescribed process. All living things possess a soul, while only monsters are capable of absorbing the soul of a human. How magic itself works is not really explained, but one could argue it's pretty much just picrel. I'd say it could be as simple as just attuning human and monster soul through analogous process as regular monster mating. The offspring, in my mind, is basically the same being as a monster that absorbed human soul. When it comes how they would look like, again, picrel. Probably dependant how the combining souls thing works
One additional aspect, some, but not all, monsters also mimic physiology of organic liveforms to some extent. This might not have any impact on the reproduction process in question considering how diverse the monster form is, but there may be some utilisation, since at least some monsters can eat, breath, blush, etc.

Considering the much more down-to-earth setting of Hometown, its likely they'll make much more biologically based for monster reproduction and at that point its a 50/50. Maybe humans and monsters were together long enough to allow interbreeding or not, maybe its based on the specific type of monster trying to make a family? Maybe there's enough magic to allow leeway here (a magically in-tuned monster can 'brute force' compatibility here). As for Darkners, I put them under a similar answer to UT, just with a few more asterisk (for example you may not be able to properly make a child with a darkner over just hot-gluing them in the light world but then there's darker than dark shit that could complicate things)

He writes characters with believable flaws that don't just immediately disappear after one encounter. Susie is a giant cunt in chapter 1, and she's still a smaller cunt in chapter 4 - but she's more ready to become a better person and has a better understanding of what she cares about.
Because of that, he knows how to put characters in situations which push them to change and how they'd respond.

Like, think about how chapter 4 is written around susie:
