>>3794248>>What does "And last, was the girl. At last, was the girl" mean?Susie is the girl, and is both the second hero in that she's the second main character we see, and "at last" in that she was the last one to properly join up.

Now that we know almost for certain that Sans is from Deltarune, what the fuck did he mean by this?
>>3795153>gaster really fucked me over
>Kris is the only party member who can't use magic and instead can CHECK enemies
>Kris is the Jeff of the party
>>3795176Does that mean Gaster is Kris's real dad and we're going to fight his intrusive gay thoughts before he calls us faggots in the finale?
>>3795182people have been saying that since the first deltarune = halloween hack connections were made back in the chapter 1 days
>>3795153That he and Alphys were monitoring Flowey and (you)r messing with the timeline. We don't have a reason to think he's not talking about UT's universe here.
The more interesting line is where he says.
>i know your type. you're, uh, very determined, aren't you?>you'll never give up, even if there's, uh... absolutely NO benefit to persevering whatsoever.>if i can make that clear. no matter what, you'll just keep going. not out of any desire for good or evil...>but just because you think you can. and because you "can"...>... you "have to."This dialogue has to make sense regardless of if the route we complete is Snowgrave, Aborted, or normal. There's also a parallel drawn here between Flowey who's also a time-space anomaly and the player. It's no too shocking that there's probably going to be a Flowey-like character in DR since is a parallel story, but I think this is a bit more evidence for it.
If I had to guess, he's talking about whoever is the second voice in the intro. So either Kris or Dess
>>3795176That would make Susie Ness, and therefore the 3rd Ness in Deltarune after Sans and Dess.

>>3795197>This dialogue has to make sense regardless of if the route we complete is Snowgrave, Aborted, or normalI disagree, I think Sans getting dunked on by the player even in one of the routes would be enough. He could be fine in the other routes, but the mere existence of a timeline to me implies that Undertale Sans is simply the result of one timeline as opposed to him being fated to be chuckedd away no matter what.
>>3795207I would agree with you, but with how insistent Toby is on Deltarune not following any one of Undertale's endings I think the same holds true for DR.
Has it ever been clarified in the lore why our SOUL taking damage = our party members taking damage and why we're the one dodging when Susie gets into fights on her own?
The simple obvious answer is that it's just to integrate the bullet hell mechanic into a party system, but at the same time, "simple gameplay mechanic is actually lore relevant" is kind of Toby's whole M.O so I don't really want to brush it off.
>>3795225To be fair, not every game mechanic was explained out in Undertale. Some stuff, like, turn-based combat, is just accepted in-universe.
What a great day, almost no janny activity on /v/ and new theory was invented. Sans is a drug dealer.
>>3795153I am telling you guys, there's still more to Sans than we think.
Oh, and another interesting thing. I've had this theory that Ralsei will become a real boy using (You)r soul, and Spamton NEO fight was a foreshadowing for that. Well, someone pointed out he has a heart-shaped slot on his chest.
How's the Mizzle ACT joke translated in the japanese version? (The joke being that everything ends with -zzle)
>>3795237-zzle translates to "zuru" so all the ACTs end in either "zuru" or "suru" which works perfectly well because "-ru" is the general verb suffix and "-suru" is the "to do" verb suffix.
>>3795153It still works on the context of UT as Sans is familiar with Alphys and is correlated to the previous royal scientist. So he is just aware of our time shenanigans because he is a scientist of sorts(?)
>>3795267It's most likely Flowey's time shenanigans instead of ours
Remember, even though it's extremely unlikely and blatantly not the intended way to first play the game, it's entirely possible to play Genocide on your first playthrough without resetting or reloading at any point. And he still says the same thing there

Because this is /vrpg/ I can say this without getting banned:
I'm fine if you like CRTs as a weird hobby to make you look like 1337 hackerman, but I grew up with them and they suck so much. The screeching noise, the static feeling, the crying if you play for more than an hour. The dogshit blurriness and low resolution. Look, if you want to blur some pixelated shit just rub vaseline on the lens or get a little intoxicated. I was SO glad to see LCDs start taking over in the '00s. There's my dissenting opinion.
>>3795284Do /v/ jannies actually ban people for saying CRTs suck? Lmfao christ
>>3795233It would be pretty cool, but I feel like Noelle and Susie already take up a lot of that narrative space, and whatever is going to happen with the Dark Worlds I think it'll be a lot more total.
Something like the Light and Dark Worlds merging without the Roaring occurring and that somehow making a world where Light and Dark can live side by side.
>>3795290/vr/ does, I've never gone to /v/, too many young'ns. /vr/ bans you for the weirdest stuff. Sometimes completely on-topic inoffensive opinions, if you watch the archive something like 1/3 of all posts get trashcanned by the jannies, it's very strange for a board full of 30-50 year olds who can handle a dissenting opinion now and then. I know this isn't a crt thread but I had to let my opinion out somewhere.
>>3795293They're just addicted to the radioactive glow feeling they get from pressing their face up against as CRT as they make out with it.
Happens to the best of us.
>>3795293/vr/ still has a hard limit of pre-2000's stuff, right? Because honestly, at this point I'd consider games from 2005 to be retro. That was 20 years ago.
>>3795284Sounds like you're just a whiny bitch. I loved CRTs in the 2000s. LCDs back then looked like ass, and I never had a problem looking at screens for a long time. Up until the very last period of my life where I still watched TV, I watched a CRT in my room.
I'm not a huge CRT fanatic or anything, but I was never bothered by any of the stuff you mentioned.
>>3795307>/vr/ still has a hard limit of pre-2000's stuff, right? What's actually enforced seems to change by the hour but my best explanation is "games before 2005, and any game made for consoles 2004 and earlier. I think I cracked the code. Have you noticed how Undertale threads never get jannied but Deltarune threads do?
>>3795831It's funny janny is an Undertale elitist.
>>3795831I'd rather not have any threads than to explicitly invite undertale discussion there

>>3795842Not what I said, and it's often cancer too.
>>3795844Not worser than pronoun shit and Suselle whining.
Welp, now a good time to test this new theory.
people talk about undertale in deltarune threads and talk about deltarune in undertale threads. Both are connected.
I really don't understand why mods think this is a game that belongs in /vg/. It's a very, very popular and influential single player game with not much to really keep you playing, generals are best fit for games with lots of replayability, updating content.
>>3795855If the threads were ALL just porn dumps and the same few ragebait topics on repeat I could understand wanting to shitcan it to /vg/ but there's still worthwhile discussion being had.
Not like that matters to the assmad janny though because he literally started doing this in like a week after it came out.
>>3795857it's going to be a month in and discussion is still going strong. There are shipperfags, yeah, but at the very least they talk about the game and how they expect it to handle the relationships, which at this point are becoming an inescapable aspect of the story.
Either way, it's completely and totally arbitrary if recurring threads get nuked and sent to /vg/ or not. It literally only depends on if the mods like the game or dislike it.
>>3795860>Sokka, sneak attacks don't work if you yell them out loud.
>>3795855Yeah, I still see good content discussed.
Funny how he doesn't realize that if they had just properly moderated /vg/'s Underrune thread over the years instead of letting it devolve into an unsalvageable avatarfag mental asylum shithouse, people wouldn't even be as resistant to go to it as they are.
>>3795866>Funny how he doesn't realize that if they had just properly moderated /vg/ over the years instead of letting it devolve into an unsalvageable avatarfag mental asylum shithouse, people wouldn't even be as resistant to go to it as they are.ftfy
>>3795866In the just world, that particular janny would be sent to moderate /utg/ exclusively.
>>3795866there's just no reason to shove people into a general. You cannot claim FOTM because deltarune has been around since 2018. People still have regular threads about games like stardew valley, mother 3, cave story threads, I'm not even mentioning nintendo. Sure, they don't have consecutive threads, but deltarune has them both because of the popularity of Undertale (Deltarune is still plenty popular too, though not as much) and because we finally have new content, and they didn't even give us a week before trying to send us to the chopping block.
Threads will die down eventually because people will run out of things to say, but there will still be regular UT/DR threads nonetheless because they're games that a lot of people want to talk about. It really isn't rocket science, but when weak-minded people have authority over others, they will look for any excuse to abuse their power.
/vg/ is not a solution. It never was, it never will be. Because due to the continuity of the threads, everything you could talk about in a general has already been talked to death, so people begin talking about each other, and it becomes a cluster of social hangout clubs for only the most obsessive of people who obsess over the work autistically.
>>3795878>for only the most obsessive of people who obsess over the work autistically.>implying the people who use threads like those for chatroom shit actually care about the work at alllel
>>3795878>Threads will die down eventuallyNot really, we had semi-regular Deltarune threads all throughout the last WAIT, and this time we only need to wait a year at most.
>>3795878/vg/ absolutely was a solution when sc2 and lol threads were choking the fucking life out of /v/ but it came at a heavy price
>>3795882It happened like once a week and died with less than 100 posts, they only picked up after toby showed the release date
>>3795882Don't forget the frequent Undertale Yellow threads back when that was popular, those lived on for a good long while solely through fanart. fanfics and news about other fangames (including that Deltarune Yellow thingymajig)
>>3795886the UTY threads still happen weekly and still discuss fangames, but they are still being shot down every once in a while, like the current one is auto saged and will die in a few minutes
Well, I made an Undertale thread. Let's see if it stays.
>>>/v/714426653
>>3795881Well it depends, for multiplayer games and update based games there is regular discussion of the game but for singleplayer games or games that are VERY slow to get updates (see: Deltarune, coffin of andy and leyley) the game just becomes the equivalent of an art piece in a club that people drink around but don't really talk about. That and just porn. Constant softcore porn.
>>3795888there's already a thread for deltarune that hasn't been deleted yet. I think most people skipped it because OP used a spoilered image.

Alright, time to veer the thread back into deltarune discussion, I'll ask it here as well:
In the ending of chapter 4, when you suddenly hear Susie's talking sounds stopping the noise, is that her walking back and telling Toriel and Sans to keep it down and stop the music, or does the music just disappear because Kris stops focusing on it when hearing Susie talking to herself?
>>3795889Constant softcore porn and subsequently people getting into ridiculously inane arguments over said softcore porn, somehow permanently associating the characters involved with their inane argument and making them impossible to post without kicking it back up
There's a reason people don't use /vg/.
>>3795893At first I thought she went in and told them to cut that shit out, but now I think she called out directly to Kris.
>>3795889mmm, even with muliplayer games that get constant updates you still end up with shit like thread personalities trying to recreate daytime TV soap opera plots with one another or people spending more time lashing out at one another, gooning over e-celebs and shitting on everything than actually playing the goddamn game. Just gotta look at the Fortnite or the TF2 generals for that kind of stuff.
>>3795894yeah that's another thing, people stop discussing the game and instead start discussing their headcanons and fight over which ones are good and which ones suck.
Which to be fair, also happens in deltarune threads, specially when it comes to theories and ships, but I think there's a difference between squabbling about theories of what could happen next, to fighting about which girl has the fattest ass or is the biggest slut or whatever.
>>3795893It's just for dramatic effect.
>>3795897>is the biggest slut or whatever.Ignoring the Whoriel spammer?
>>3795895I honestly want it to be the former because it would be so sweet yet bittersweet of Susie to do.

>>3795831>07/04/25what the fuck, the jannies discovered time travel?

>>3795951>but its fanbase pretended it was bigger than it wasNigga, that's literally every video game ever liked or disliked.
I just want to point out that in Undertale, Asgore must have know Gaster since he was the royal Scientist, so one day Asgore would have had a shit load of documents by a scientist he doesn't remember and signed for a lab he may have forgotten about
It is possible it's the same in Deltarune, except being a cop would mean Asgore would have immedeate alarm bells about all the stuff that points to a man who not only suddenly disappeared in a small town, but HE had a connection too that he doesn't remember - it's probably why he started a schizo conspiracy board to begin with, outside of the Dess stuff: it's entirely possible the only competent scientific forensic expert he could go to for proof just up and vanished without a trace for no reason, and also would have vanished from his memory completely if he didn't have the documents
>>3795994Iunno anon, do you know any police chiefs that try searching for missing people that don't exist?
>>3795994>so one day Asgore would have had a shit load of documents by a scientist he doesn't remember and signed for a lab he may have forgotten aboutNot necessarily, Gaster was wiped from existence so hard that barring a VERY select few sources, even uttering his name causes the universe to wipe itself. Its possible all the documents just up and vanished along with him
>>3795057>putting a fun gameplay gimmick keeps players from focusing on the worse aspects of your JRPGI genuinely don't see the problem here. Do you want all of your JRPGs to just be pressing buttons?
>>3795870/vg/ sounds like it was always meant to be a mod-less garbage heap to keep the board from getting affected by autists about any particular game.
Maybe the mods should just shut down /vg/ like they did with /qa/. Just to see what would happen.
With apologies to the image limit, I'm gonna shill the gif I made in this thread as well. I've had the idea for this one ever since I saw the way Noelle slid towards Kris on the couch
>>3796008>WR if we possessed Noelle instead of Kris hereIm not the only one who tried that right
>>3795994Gaster being forgotten is fanon, its only directly said he was scattered across time and space. Although there is more evidence now if you assume the Forgotten Man is Gaster or a fragment of him or the character naming screen in Undertale crashing. While the device the player interfaces with in Deltarune is made by Gaster so he could just have a ban against saying his name there.
I also think Asgore's story is more realistic, not in that it doesn't have supernatural elements, but stories of people having their lives consumed by cold cases aren't rare and I can see why Toriel would divorce him over that. From her perspective Asgore and Carol are just dragging her, Rudy, and their kids back to the night December disappeared over and over again. Although she's still a bitch who's failed to help Kris with her issues, and her and Asgore probably had their problems before December went missing.
>>3796008Good gif anon, Kris for sure came his pants after this
>>3796008If you have some OC to post, fire away, that's what our image limit is for.
>>3795895I don't think that's the case because it really seems like she's talking to herself before she walks away. And her muffled voice before that matches up with the sounds of sans and toriel.
>>3796024>she's talking to herself before she walks awayThere's lot of time had passed between her leaving and the final scene, I don't think she was hanging outside all that time. I imagine it went like this:
>Susie walks all the way to her apartment building>realizes that both Kris and she will be alone all night with those dark, depressive thoughts>comes back to Dreemurr house and yells for Kris
>>3796029its too bad she forgot kris' room window is on the back of the house, not the front
>>3796029why couldn't the same thing work for her telling off sans and toriel?
>goes to apartment>realizes she should help kris>comes back and tells sans and toriel to stopalso if she yelled for kris I think we would have heard what she was saying. you can't hear her well because her voice is muffled from being in the living room where sans and toriel are. then kris is able to hear her more clearly when he goes to the open window and listens to what she says before she leaves. and it doesn't really make sense for her to call out for kris and then just leave on her own imo.
>>3796031Dreemur's house layout is a complete mess. But the way I see it, Kris' window should face towards the road.
>>3796033>why couldn't the same thing work for her telling off sans and toriel?Fair enough.
>replaced someone's role because their leader needed it
>but nobody even knows who the original one is
>people think he may not have even existed to begin with
Guys the Mikes were a fucking Gaster analogue
>>3796010>Gaster being forgotten is fanon, its only directly said he was scattered across time and space. True, I think Goner Kid's dialogue is where the idea came from. It's a fair conclusion tho, since only the gaster_followers ever mention gaster in-game. It cannot be simply a time thing, since gaster followers are monochrome copies of monsters that already exist. So I just read him shattering across space and time as literally him getting deleted from the present, past, and future of the world.
>>3796031Well, it wouldn't be on the back, but probably the side if we were going to take the internal logic literally
The front door faces the south, the stairs on the bottom floor go from west to east
Then the top floor is flipped from our perspective because otherwise the stairs would be coming from the bottom of the map and not the top
But in reality it's better to not think about spatial order in a 2D pixel art game, for the inside to match the outside there'd need to be a 90 degree bend in the stairs
>>3796053If Gaster was erased like that over every world, I think it's even more likely the Forgotten Man is him. They do have similar speaking styles and Toby tends to be consistent with those when they are given, like with Sans' font and Italian newyork accent.
I've seen people say the man, the tree, and what was behind it traumatized Kris, but in the flashback room itself Kris makes to tree to cover up his memory. So I don't think the tree was actually there, and Deltarune's the man/Gaster was probably his therapist before he was erased since that seems to be the role he's still playing for Kris now.

So what do you guys think of this theory?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYZnY2ppESw
In summary:
>The prophecy has happened before, with Dess, Asriel and Seam as the 3 heroes
>Asriel as the prince, Dess as the girl and Seam as the cage (using Kris' original soul)
>The shadow crystals are likely the Knight's tears
>The knight is Dess after she tried to close the fountain but her soul shattered (since she is a monster, might be what happened to Gaster too) and her souless body is now stuck in a stage between light and dark (with her consciousnesses being UNUSED), and might be what the voice on the phone tells why Kris can't enter the dark world without a soul
>Maybe the pure crystal is putting back Dess' shattered soul
Also I really like the ponytail Dess design
>>3796446>So what do you guys think of this theory?Sorry, I don't like it too much.
>>3796446Why would Asriel be the prince from the dark and not Seam or an unknown Darkner?
Though I don't doubt that the prophecy could have happened before, maybe even multiple times
>>3796452>Why would Asriel be the prince from the dark and not Seam or an unknown Darkner?Because Toriel and Asgore and Queen and King in the Dark World.
>>3796456But he's still not from the dark, he simply adapted to it. You can interpret the prophecy a lot of ways but I think coming to the conclusion that "The Prince from Deepest Dark" is a Lightner is a bit much
>>3796460the prophecy doesn't say "prince from the dark", only ralsei's fake and gay version does
the actual prophecy is "THE PRINCE, ALONE IN DEEPEST DARK"
>>3796462...okay, well he's not alone either? He's not a single child he has Kris, and his parents werent divorced yet. Everyone in town loved the kid too, unlike Kris. There's no Darkness for him to be Alone in. Alone in the LIGHT, maybe you can make that argument with the idea if you strech, but he's not alone in deepest dark by any means
>>3796463the video touches on him being alone in the deepest darkness after dess is lost and seam fails to seal the fountain because of kris, or just dark in a mental state way
>>3796465How the fuck can he be the prince from deepest dark of the prophecy if the events that make him so are not until after one of the other heroes said prophecy needs is gone? What kind of prophecy is this supposed to be
>>3796462>>3796465This sounds kinda contrived. This 'theory' is a cooler 'what if' then a theory for something that happened.
We have no reason to believe the prophecy happened before. Hell, we have more reason to believe that our three heroes are the Vessel, Noelle, and Lancer than we have for this.
>>3796462>only ralsei's fake and gay version doesexplain why ralsei's version has stuff we didn't see in chapter 4 then
we didn't see the whole prophecy in chapter 4
>>3796401For me it's the Kris Gender War that flares up once every three threads that kills and desire to be there. Fujos wanting to fuck a TV I can just ignore. But when 80% of a thread turns into disingenuous clowns fighting a culturewar for their preferred interpretation of a deliberately ambiguous MC I just can't deal with it. /v/ has flareups too but they don't last nearly as long.
Shit just reminds me of why I generally avoid this game's community off this site. Too pushy about conforming to whatever shitty headcannon they've built up.
>>3796463>He's not a single child he has KrisOf course! Kris was adopted out to the Dreemurrs to keep Asriel from being eligible for the prophecy! By Jove, Holmes, call Scotland Yard, you've cracked the case!
>>3796473Because Ralsei's version is designed to get Susie and (You) invested in it.
>>3796475Anon, I'm sorry but your theory just sucks ass
>>3796487Why else would a monster family in a town of monsters adopt a human? Maybe Carol pulled some strings! She wanted Dess to become the Knight, but Dess couldn't do so if she became the Girl but she can't become the Girl if Asriel can't be the Prince. Plus, you know that whole saying about a man meeting his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it. It would be ironic if Carol attempting to prevent the prophecy inadvertently fulfilled it. She was so fixated on the Prince that she ignored the possibility of Kris being the Cage until it was too late.
>>3796513>Why else would a monster family in a town of monsters adopt a human?NTA but, literally any other reason.
>It would be ironicLots of scenarios can be ironic, anon
>>3796518Really think about it: if the Dreemurrs had never adopted Kris, then Kris wouldn't be anywhere near Hometown, so they wouldn't be in any kind of position to play a part in the prophecy, would they? Without them, Susie probably gets herself killed by King, Ralsei gets killed too or captured, the Soul goes to the Vessel as intended. Shit, maybe Kris is the one who gives Jockington the idea to grow a beard!
>>3796521True, let's go even further. If the Dreemurrs never fucked, Asriel wouldn't need to be born. Wait, hold on I'm making a connection... if Toby never made Deltarune, there would be no prophecy! So obviously he put Kris in there to replace the potential candidates. It's genius really.
>>3796523BY JOVE HOLMES YOU'VE SOLVED IT AGAIN! IT'S THE CASE OF THE CENTURY!
>>37965241200+ hours of schizoposting gets you places. Take it from me, pal.
>>3796521>Without them, Susie probably gets herself killed by KingSusie wouldn't even have went into Dark World in the first place most likely.
>>3796521anon, saving you the typing time, i literally cannot read past like 5 sentences on your posts.
>>3796535How is it my problem that you're illiterate?
>>3796446I've seen multiple takes of the same idea and I still have the problem of the human cage, that and people already know the prophecy. It doesn't need to by cyclical for people to have future knowledge, the vocie in the unused code aka probably Dess already mentions having semi-prophetic dreams of being trapped in a dark world.
>>3796513Is there a human family in town that could randomly adopt a human?
A lot of the monster families that we see in Hometown have two kids: The Holidays have Dess and Noelle, the Cattenheimers have Catti and Catty, Bratty's family... Well that looks like a full house. The other families we see live in the apartment complex, so they're either less well-off or short on space
Meanwhile, Asgore and Toriel are well known, liked, and respected in the community (at the time). Asgore was the chief of police, Toriel was a school teacher, and they only had 1 kid. The Dreemurs were the best choice to adopt an orphan kid.
>>3796477why did he include details saying we're not the heroes at the moment then retard
>>3796263/v/ is a garbage dump, where Toby Fox's creations rightly belongs (excl. a few of his music)
>>3796463to be fair, wouldn't it make sense if they failed because... they got the prophecy wrong? and so by fucking up, the true prophesied heroes can now take over
>>3796598Everyone who knows anything about prophecies knows that trying to prevent them only makes it certain that they'll happen. If an oracle tells you that your son is gonna kill you and fuck your wife, you might as well light some candles, put on some Marvin Gaye, and give the kid a gun and a pack of condoms, because otherwise it's just gonna happen the slow way.

>>3796689>Isn't he the better gamer of the group?Tenna notes he stopped playing games after Asriel left, I think "Gaming is not my life" is also a "Kris" choice during arcade machine scene in chapter 2.
>>3796676Toriel doesn't seems to be surprised when he comes home in chapter 1 and immediately goes to sleep. Obviously he was tired after Dark World adventure, but if he does that a lot, it's a big symptom of chronic depression. He was going through life on autopilot for years now.
>>3796701>I think "Gaming is not my life" is also a "Kris" choice during arcade machine scene in chapter 2.To be fair, in the same chapter he willingly, without prompt from us, goes up to the arcade machine when it's just him and Queen when she asks to play a game just for fun. Could be possible he simply stopped playing console games, but at minimum its still a thing he enjoys doing. Heck you can argue in Chapter 3 he keeps going with SWORD route partly because of this. He does plug in the controller unprompted, and even when the game is over entirely he still picks it back up as if he wants to play more even after what he saw

Why do people think Asgore was talking about a Shadow Crystal when he said black shard
Shadow Crystals aren't black
They're invisible, and they're just glass in the light world
Are they just people who never beat the Knight to find out it gives you a black shard that stays the same
>>3796730those are people with low reading comprehension/no long term memory, or just never actually used the shadow crystal/checked it
>>3796730What it means is that he's gonna have a sick ass weapon in the dark world.
>>3796731Speaking of people with low reading comprehension, I swear I'm gonna go fucking crazy if I see another person saying Dess is trapped in the code instead of it just being flashbacks to her disappearance in a Dark World
>>3796733this but people saying shadow crystals make you a schizo/give you knowledge
>>3796736I think the crystals show darkners the reality of the deltarune world, the prophecy and other meta stuff, but now we know they aren't gaster's schizo seeds
>>3796730ig the words 'shadow crystal' evokes the same image as 'black shard', I think it's a fair thing to forget. Not that it matters much other than the implication that Asgore can see smth through the thing he has, which honestly would be kinda cool.
>>3796725>It is, the chocolate is mostly a coping mechanism. What makes you say that?
>Wait, he did? When you use the 'Ancient Sweet' item on Ralsei, which is chocolate cone, he says 'Oh Kris, it's your favorite...' which, fair enough, it heals Kris 400 HP.
During the Quiz, when it asks for Kris's fav food, both him and Susie will choose chocolate and will have dialogue guessing that. Hell, Susie even says 'Chocolate. Duh.'
I'm sure there is another example that makes me think this (unless I'm just getting Chara lore confused), since I also instantly clicked chocolate when that question came up.
>Those are not mutually exclusive statements, plus Ralsei was obviously encouraging him when Kris needed to play a game.True. I guess Kris could be good at games but not play them anymore.
>>3796739>Not that it matters much other than the implication that Asgore can see smth through the thing he has, which honestly would be kinda cool.To be honest I think Asgore having a shadow crystal is STILL possible, despite the obvious separation between the crystal and the shard
Asgore having a Black Shard could potentially imply he fought the Knight and chipped her sword, and when Susie chips the Knight's sword it drops a shadow crystal in the same spot
We don't know exactly why a crystal fell there in our case, so maybe Asgore could've gotten one the same way Susie did?
>>3796740(And just to clarify in case this gets misunderstood like the post I made about the Justice Axe, I mean the possibility Asgore has BOTH a black shard and a shadow crystal, not that the shard is the crystal.)
>>3796740If Asgore is the main boss it'd at least be an interesting subversion for this single ShadowCrystal to be the only mandatory one.
>>3796738completely fucking wrong and you'd know if you actually paid attention (assuming you even played the game)
this what makes me so fucking mad, people reading something online at taking it for granted because they're either retarded and or can't remember details
next you're going to tell me Spamton got his knowledge from the shadow crystal he had for a grand total of 30 seconds before trying to kill Kris
>>3796741>And just to clarify in case this gets misunderstood like the post I made about the Justice AxeLmao.
>>3796742Yeah it seems the Shadow Crystals are each very differently given, Jevil and Spamton were given it. Ramb never got his, so we took it straight from the knight. Gerson was also given it but never bothered using it. Maybe Asgore's twist will be that he took it by force like we did.
>>3796742Toby shifted up the assumed chapter formula and "rules" so much with 3 and 4 that I wouldn't even be too surprised to see a Lightner filling the role of Dark World Ruler and Shadow Crystal Boss at the same time
>>3796744>>3796743right I remember now, spamton's was inside the NEO body
it really makes everything weird when the crystals are either given, found or seemingly never used
>>3796724>>3796739Kris literally coughs the answer for you. It's pie.
>>3796741As the first person who had replied to your post about the axe, I only mentioned the "terrible" part to bolster my theory about the letter being the "terrible weapon"
funny how nobody noticed my first line lmao
>>3795955Humor is fine, but I think it's too much when any serious or heartfelt moments is turned into a meme. And that's this series in a nutshell
>>3795973Nope, UT/DT fans are wayyy worse just because they have lots of traction coming from streamers in the past which is rare for a pixel "RPG"
>>3796744Important distinction to be made
>Jevil had the ShadowCrystal on him>Seam says Spamton found the ShadowCrystal in the old machineGerson makes it sound like someone gave it to him to be used, which could be true, but in that case I think The Knight having one might be a red herring. People say The Knight had to have pur one in Gerson's desk, but he says that The Knight basically sped by him with no regard. It makes me think there's another party planting them or giving them away to useful parties.
My only guess can be FRIEND since we see specifically see them prowling around in the two chapters where the secret bosses didn't initially have the Crystals when we first met them. They technically appear in Chapter 3 during Ralsei's Darkness explanation, and as support enemies in thr ERAM fight, but those aren't real instances of you encountering them.
>The Chapter 2 shadow crystal showed up in the NEO body (a drawing)
>Seam immediately wonders if the machine was important to a Lightner, implying that's why the crystal was there
Could Jevil's crystal maybe have come from Alvin's drawing left in the unused classroom?
>>3796756This implies The Knight and Gerson are drawings too, it's kind of weak. Hwoever the FRIEND theory still somewhat holds up if we take its appearance in Ralsei's explanation as an example of its color motif, since Jevil shares the same palette of that scene as shown here
>>3795379
>>3796752>>3796756It's entirely possible that the Shadow Crystals themselves represent the hopes and dreams of Lightners. Like a tiny crystallized pinch of Determination.
>>3796757>This implies The Knight and Gerson are drawings tooI don't think it does, my idea was just that the Shadow Crystals (not the bosses who find them) originate from things with lots of importance to Lightners, one of the confirmed sources being a drawing
>>3796739>What makes you say that?Chocolate is believed to have antidepressant properties.
>When you use the 'Ancient Sweet' item on Ralsei, which is chocolate cone, he says 'Oh Kris, it's your favorite...' which, fair enough, it heals Kris 400 HP.The only way to obtain it is from the pocket of Asriel's jacket. Connect the dots.
>Hell, Susie even says 'Chocolate. Duh.'Susie had known him for two days, she's not exactly Kris expert. She just noticed that he prefers chocolate in chapter 1.

>>3796757>This implies The Knight and Gerson are drawings too, it's kind of weak.Knight maybe, but it was pointed out that Gerson's photo was in his dust bowl.
>>3796768>wish toby had at least added the 3rd board as an optional thing since it is almost fully doneSince chapter 3 already changes on replays (you can get a fifth key on the first board to make S-rank easier), he could've added an option to actually play it.
>>3796759I actually really like that, then the Knight would basically be wearing an armor made of their own resolve and refusal to die.
>>3796764>Susie had known him for two daysShit, I fucked up here. What I meant to say is that she was only close to him for two days. I don't think she paid close attention to his food preferences when she was bullying him. Probably would've assumed that his favorite food is apples.
Speaking of food and chapter 1, I just realized something. Kris obviously disliked Hearts Donuts because they reminded him of (You), and we assumed that Susie likes them because she can pretend they're real hearts, but what if it's another foreshadowing that (You) will get to control her?
>>3796773>Kris forces Noelle to share the Choco Diamond>If the red thing after Chapter 4 Snowgrave is really a piece of our soul, he might be "sharing" our control with her when it grows laterI'm definitely looking too deep into this.
>>3796774>Kris forces Noelle to share the Choco DiamondI assumed he was just making puppy eyes at her, would be on-brand for him. It's also funny how she has several food items she shares with Kris (he takes two thirds of Clubs sandwich instead of one third, and she gives him the last drop of Scarlixir according to code).
I should replay Chapter 1 honestly
No idea when my last full playthrough was, since the last time I booted it up was to go back on my complete file and grab Starwalker before I replayed Chapter 2 to prepare my saves for 3

Susue will have to sacrifice herself.
>>3796884That's not guaranteed. Susie might have to kill someone else, most likely Noelle if so
>>37968871. The prophecy stays the same even on Snowgrave route where she doesn't form the connection.
2. The whole self-development of Susie is built around her finally finding a place where she can truly live. Her violent reaction suggests that this will be all for naught, as her reactions towards the idea of other's deaths was either dismissal or determination up to that point.
>>3796887>Susie might have to kill someone else, most likely Noelle if soHow would that even work? Aside from Jockington, Prophecy does not namedrops anyone. Susie mistakenly assumed she is the Girl, in reality it was most likely supposed to be Noelle and Susie blundered into Prophecy by a complete accident orchestrated by Gaster and his followers.

>>3796922It could be something like
>Sacrifice the girl's love>Picture of vague silhouette stabbing another silhouette. It's vague and short enough to where it can fit most scenarios and be something Susie might react that badly to. Her entire dark world has the ominous repetition of girl and her love, Ralsei acts off when Susie asks if she does anything in the prophecy. The wording also could fit if Noelle was the second hero, and like how the angle in Undertale is route dependent the sacrificed victim here could be route dependent.
>>3797016I really don't want to start this conversation in this nice thread, but I really don't think Susie will assume it's Noelle if this is the case.
>>3797026She doesn't have to assume its Noelle, just that somebody she cares about is going to die.
Although personally I prefer some type of grand sacrifice of cataclysm, Spamton and Jevil reacted quite badly to being given future knowledge but unlike Ralsei they don't have a reason to care about Susie or any potential love interest she may have.
But given the prophecy talks about both worlds being saved, the grand sacrifice that makes the most sense to me, the Darkness being banished forever, doesn't really make sense since the Darkworlds also have to be saved.
>>3797030There is a good chance that Noelle was supposed to be the original Girl in the Prophecy, and Kris and Ralsei both really want to keep distance between Noelle and Kris for some reason, so it's either Girl killing the Soul, or vice versa. It is also obvious that there will be a huge confrontation between Kris and Susie in the future. I think the idea is that Susie is supposed to kill Kris, and we're here to prevent this.
>>3796876ALL the ghosts will be important in the end
you'll see...
>>3797032Yeah I think that fits as well, there's also the fact that Carol seemed to be ques into what Susie's deal was even before letting her.
So she could have been collecting information on her and trying to keep Noelle away from the prophecy in any way shape or form.
>>3790893Imagine being so obsessed you stalk every uty thread 24/7 lmao
Are there any guides on modding a battle into a game to try out specific attack sequences?
I'm thinking something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jwYQ8HvDiY
I'd like a mode with like infinite HP where I could practice a couple of attacks by the Knight (like the diagonal split). I've beaten the boss multiple times, but I want to get better at some of the attacks. I just want the mode to constantly give my just 1 attack or alternate between a list of attacks.
>>3797213just edit your save file to give you 99999999 hp and defense
>>3797214I thought about that, but I can do most attacks just fine, so doing an entire battle just to practice one type is too long, like 15 seconds of practice for 5 minutes. That's why I'd like to be hit by the same attack over and over until I actually learn it.
>>3796995>The whole reason Kris is vulnerable to manipulation by the knight is because Asriel is away.Assuming this is you, who do you believe the Knight to be?
I'm not sure if you intended it this way, but I actually think it becomes especially fitting if Dess is the Knight. Getting big brother back might be impossible, but big sister is right there. The family will be back together again: all Kris has to do is trust in the plan. This also works with the interpretation that Carol is the voice on the phone, in that both her and Kris want the same thing.
>>3797030>the grand sacrifice that makes the most sense to me, the Darkness being banished forever, doesn't really make sense since the Darkworlds also have to be saved. Most Darkners seem to be fine with being objects in the Light World so long as they can fulfill their purpose in "serving the Lightners" (ie. being useful to them). I think they'd prefer no more fountains over being permanently turned to stone.
>>3797257>Assuming this is youNope, just a good list I saved
>who do you believe the Knight to be?I mean, /v/ was really awful about this topic lately, but 99% it's Dess and 1% Toby accidentally lobotomized himself with a pencil so he's going to pull some retarded twist just for the sake of it. >>3796008I'm posting the fixed version of this gif here, for anyone who wants it.
As I was making the original gif, I was so hyper-focused on Kris and Noelle that I wholesale didn't notice that the Noelle's room sprite doesn't include most of the furniture. I made the joke in another thread that, as a result of my fuckup, the canonical motive for the Raging Angel was that Kris pranked Noelle by gluing all her furniture to the ceiling. As I was fixing the gif, I also noticed Kris must have taken the time to remove her vent, spackle it shut, and paint over where it used to be. Tricksy little apple gremlin is truly dedicated to the art of the prank.
Anywho, Noelle now has all her proper furnishings and airflow is restored to normal. The kiss/hearts/blush edit is still forthcoming, I just wanted to get the original right first.
>>3797273Good job anon! I like it!
>>3797260I feel like shit like FNAF warped the fuck out of people's expectations for how a mystery story should be written.

Foreshadowing doesn't exist, it's all red herrings. Writers don't lay out pieces for you to put together in a grand puzzle, it's all fakeout after fakeout and the pieces are there to troll you. The guy who has literally no reason to be dead was secretly dead all along. The most important mystery identity can't be the character being built up to be extremely important, it's... *spins wheel* that one bear who says "Thaaat's politics!" who's secretly been behind everything all along, because fuck you that's why.
I really wish people would stop treating Deltarune like this.
>>3797260>Voice on the phone - now that's a good question, I initially assumed it's Carol but I'm not so sure anymore.Who else do you think it could be? The only other person I can think of is the Knight (Dess), but I still think the whole "I'll be there shortly" thing is too big of a smoking gun to be brushed aside.
>>3797257>Most Darkners seem to be fine with being objects in the Light World so long as they can fulfill their purpose in "serving the Lightners" (ie. being useful to them). I think they'd prefer no more fountains over being permanently turned to stone.I know, but I find the idea of something big and dramatic, that affects all Darkners to be more appealing. In the meta-narrative Spamton and Jevil are video game characters that know they're in a video game, while in universe they realize they live in a deterministic world where they have no free will. In the meta-narrative the prophecy is the game script and in universe, it's well a prophecy, fate that can't be avoided or stopped.
It's just a personal thing, but the idea that there's a specific event, not just the knowledge of fate in general, that motivates them. Jevil knows that event that happens no matter what will wipe out the consequences for his action so he doesn't care, while spamton desperately tries to attain power that would allow him to avoid that event.
>>3797285the issue with that is carol showing up anyway in the weird route
unless kris called her between the PROCEED scene and the bathroom crash out
>>3797289He probably did, if you check his phone after his crashout his cleared his call logs like he does in the normal route after he calls Carol.
It's a small, easily missed detail, but its there for a reason.
>>3797273>the canonical motive for the Raging Angel was that Kris pranked Noelle by gluing all her furniture to the ceilingThis was the kinda thing that wouldve had a good greentext made out of it in 2021 /utg/
>>3797285I still think it’s the Knight just because the final call really fits with Don't Forget lyrics, which is clearly being sung by Dess.
>>3797285"There" was referring to the church. It was supposed to be in the evening and they were talking about it as part of the conversation, but Susie finding the guitar moved the timetable up to try and distract her. Hence why we see the Knight right away and why Gerson says it rushed through his study just long enough to drop off the Crystal but he didn't have enough time with it to be properly influenced. It's possible the church fountain was going to be created in the evening after choir practice had ended, with the gang going through it the next day.
>>3797283I think people are just too eager to feel smart, so if solving the mystery is too easy, it's not worth it. May be due in part to FNAF like you said, but I think it's honestly endemic of mass communication grossly accelerating the spread of ideas -> everyone is now expected to know everything, since I see this in discussions of every other form of media too
>>3797288I still do think the idea of the last prohpecy being "sealing the Dark Worlds to save both" qualifies as big and dramatic. It still does affect all Darkners, and even though most are likely resigned to their fate like Ralsei (whose whole character arc is about finding new meaning in life, by the way), there are notable exceptions like Spamton and King. Hell, Susie, arguably the main protagonist, completely loathes the idea. These outliers are what drive the moral dilemma and desire to change fate by finding another solution
>>3797289(I haven't played weird route chapters 3-4 yet)
I've heard this before, but I honestly think it may be a determinism thing, where Carol is fated to go home early either way since our choices don't matter or whatever.
>>3797292And Asgore could've easily been the one who was calling Carol in the bathroom
>>3797292It could always be a group call, Carol, Kris, and The Knight on the phone at the same time. It would explain why Kris is refereed to in the third person and the Knight making the Dark Fountain right away could be its response to learning Susie almost got the code.
Carol comes in to kick her out, while the Knight goes right ahead to make the next DW ahead of schedule.
Why would Kris even nuke all his phone contacts if it's just one person he was talking to?
>>3797307Actually nevermind I just thought of a reason
Could be that he doesn't want you to call Toriel and find out she's at home so you don't have to go in the church world
>>3797307>>3797311Does he nuke his phone contacts? That's a cool detail. I was messing around with the phone at the beginning of the chapter, but I didn't even think of calling home after visiting Noelle.
>>3797327maybe not in this thread? It'll eat up the image count and we're only just 270 messages in.
>>3797283Yeah, it's really annoying. Dess is only really obvious to the people deep in the fandom or theorizing, to a common player she would be this girl who's dead/missing and has been set up a bit but is mostly mysterious. Toby also doesn't go for those type of twists that are born from writing a story by the seat of your pants, in Undertale the only real twists I can think of are Asriel/Flowey, Asgore = King, and needing a Boss Monster soul to cross the barrier. Asriel offers a more indepth explanation for why things happened, Asgore = King is an obvious twist that's meant to make you get interested in Asgore as a character since there seems to be two diametrically opposed sides to him, and needing a Boss Monster soul raises the stakes.
I think the reveals that will happen will generally fall into those three categories, they explain events, make us see a new side of a character, or raise the stakes. Additionally, by analyzing the roles characters play in the narrative I think it's pretty easy to figure out who these reveals will center around.
Namely our trio of antagonists The Knight/Dess, Carol, and Kris.
>>3797335Fair enough, I'll keep the bingoposting for the /v/ threads.

>>3797337plus dess has been something slowly building up even to the casual player, with her becoming more relevant as the story's gone on
she went from a small mention in a piece of missable dialogue, to an important part of a main character's background you had to literally walk through, to having a fucking code to the shelter hidden in her guitar in her room that a large portion of chapter 4's pre-dark world segment takes place in
her presence has been slowly increasing in the story even for the layman going through the game without any further digging, to say she'd be 'TOO obvious' is essentially saying building up to a reveal isn't a thing in stories

>>3797353Yeah, there's also the more... Understandable end of theorizing, being Gaster schizos. If we were back in the Chapter 2 days I wouldn't have considered them as crazy since back them it seemed like we had a lot of textual evidence or build up that could be revealed to be Gaster with the person Spamton and Jevil were talking to. Now with King's post-chapter 3 dialogue and the Knight having a connection to the prophecy and Shadow Crystals, it seems like a lot of the textual evidence for Gaster has been recontextualized as being more Dess/Knight stuff.
A lot of the schizo, music theory, number 6 motif, and entry 17 things still exist but without the strong textual evidence and with Gaster not having a role in the story a lot of the Gaster stuff seems more dubious. He doesn't even fully take on Flowey's role as he's interrupted by someone else in the intro who delivers the fake out motive, and now with the new reveals it seems like both Kris or Dess could be that second voice in the intro who have taken on Flowey's role in the parallel narrative.

>>3797372>Krisare you suggesting kris put us into their body for some reason? only to chimp out and try to keep us from controlling them?
>>3797403Kris is obviously participating in some kind of conspiracy, most likely against his will. Soul is playing a big role in said conspiracy, he can't enter dark worlds without it. So whether he wants it or not, he has to have the soul and keep it in the dark about the whole plan.
>>3797408I think he can't enter dark worlds because anything "soulless" would be considered an object, and thus turned into a Darkner
>>3797403Yeah, he's participating in a conspiracy that relies on the soul which is some philosophized thing and if Carol, Dess, and Kris are woking off knowledge from the prophecy, manipulating a central figure like the soul is probably a must. In the mera-narrative the soul probably represents something akin to the focus of the narrative, Kris literally become the protagonist by having is and like how you can't have a story without a narrative focus, you probably can't have the prophecy without the soul.
There is also the fact the only solid result of the Knight creating Dark Fountains so far is allowing the soul to seal them, and thus allowing it to grow in strength. It also seems to have some special ability and Kris' birdcage seems to indicate the possession was pre-meditated.
>>3797415>Hey Kris I need you to host this eldritch being with ultimate knowledge of our universe and universes beyond and allow it to control both your actions and your words regardless of how you feel about it's choices>Oh dont worry if you get sick of it just toss it in the bird cage or wedge it in the couch cushions youll be fineHow did they manage to convince him
>>3797415>There is also the fact the only solid result of the Knight creating Dark Fountains so far is allowing the soul to seal themNot true, we also fulfill some part of Prophecy each time we do it. Plus Dark World in chapter 2 was created with an obvious intent to drag Noelle into it, so Knight wants her to participate in the whole thing, unlike Ralsei and probably Kris.
>>3797420>ultimate knowledge of our universeLol no, we know jack shit about it and our knowledge of other universes only clouds our judgement.
>>3797420Dunno, but considering someone on his phone mentions a promise and he feels guilty about something that happened in his past, the event which is probably Dess' disappearance.

I still think "Mike" being the name of the upcoming TV villain was a perfectly logical and reasonable assumption to make pre-Sweepstakes.
Spamton trailing off into "DON'T TRUST ANYTHING YOU SEE ON TV, HE'S A CRIMINAL" directly after mentioning Mike certainly implied a lot, and combined with the previous schizoboss namedropping the next primary villain, I can't really see what other conclusion there could've been back then.

>>3798245It's been one month. Thread have been slowing down.
>>3798319Not to mention Toby made that twitter post about how character themes/leimotifs like lost girl appear in scenes that don't involve those characters.
It happens all the time in UT as well, spider dance rather famously has the ghost cousin theme in it and the little yellow bird has Alphys theme in it. Music connections aren't that concrete in the first place since a lot of the time Toby just wants a specific vibe.
This isn't even mentioning the fact that trying to analyze the content of a song without having a copy of it in front of you seems like a fools errand, humans rather prone to auditory hallucinations especially when they're looking for something.
>>3798413>spider dance rather famously has the ghost cousin theme in itI honestly just assumed that meant it was the miniboss motif that happened to be connected to the ghosts more often than not. Just like how the Lost Girl theme technically just plays in all of Noelle's house and not just in Dess' room. The connections are loose but there, it just means that sometimes it's not going to mean much beyond having A connection.
So the Mike room is the copy of Cat Petterz RPG underneath Asriel's bed.

I think I figured it out. The final piece of prophecy is Girl killing Kris.
Kris was depressed and suicidal after Dessapearance and his family breaking apart, that's why he got roped into this plan - "If you're going to die, at least die saving the worlds"
This explains why he is so uncomfortable around Noelle - she is his future killer, after all.
This explains Snowgrave - he is supposed to condition Noelle for his own murder.
This explains why Ralsei was hoping that Prophecy will change if they switch the Girl and make her kind.
This explains Susie's reaction - she was genuinely shocked about it (she thought that Prophecy is a good thing), but she quickly found a cope - after all, there's no way in hell she would kill her best friend?
>>3798554My assumption is it's phrased along the lines of "The Girl Must Shatter The Cage" which is something that could easily be interpreted as Susie killing Kris, but can also be fulfilled in the sense of Kris no longer needing to be the Cage and our control over him being lifted.

>>3798803It isn't even that hard to chart a narrative where Dess became something like an amalgamate equivalent lost in the Dark World with Carol and Asgore looking for her.
Then Carol actually finds Dess without Asgore and gets roped into completing the prophecy in a way that will benefit both of them but will put Kris at harm.
Then you can say due to Dess already being aware of the future to some degree is what caused her to venture into the woods and follow the pointed tail. Now in the present she extracts some promise our of Kris and manipulates him into acting as a vessel for the soul with the promise everything will go back to how it used to be on her end.
Making have some parallel traits with Tenna(the chapter antagonist he made) and Asogre(his father and the spurned member of the conspiracy who has also turned into a pawn)
All he needs is a segment at the end where he goes over what he thinks the narrative implications are a craft a story using what he talks about in the analysis in order to make it a proper theory video instead of just recapping.
>>3798813That's how Toby works, though.

>>3798853>I would feel frustrated having to replay the entire game again just to progress the story. This is a big reason why I think it's reasonable to take Toby's "only one ending" statement at face value. There are obviously going to be differences in circumstances depending on your actions, potentially big ones, but the broad outcome is generally the same.
Think along the lines of the neutral endings in UT: in all of them, Asgore is dead, the souls are gone, and monsters are trapped underground, but the specifics are wildly different depending on who's alive and how their lives are going.

Really all of the details just make his theories make less sense, I do agree however that there are characters that have parallel roles in Undertale and Deltarune but I think he tries to make them too 1:1 and even in the chapter 2 days the parallels he proposed didn't make a lot of sense. For instance, Gaster is barely a character, even a hidden one in UT so the hidden code entity has no in universe story role, which breaks some of Jaru's own logic.
Not to mention third entity with two versions of Kris/Chara and Asriel being the third one who's dead.

I was going to respond to this but the thread got archived mid writeup and I don't want to lose the text so I'll just post it here.
At some point, Noelle breaks down crying, and believing that Kris is once again possessed by the Soul, would attack Kris with a knife. Kris would naturally pull his knife out to defend himself, but would only slightly slash Noelle whereas she would slightly stab him before dropping the knife and bursting into tears.
After however many hours it takes for the two to calm down, they end up bandage each other up without saying anything. But then Noelle, for some reason, licks Kris' wound. In retaliation, Kris licks back and for the first time in many years Noelle laughs. They continue licking each other, giggling, until Kris gets to close to Noelle's chest. After a moan, they only intensify, until they are full on having sex.
But Noelle does the unthinkable, she leglocks Kris, who desperately tries to pull out, but Noelle tells him It's okay, it'll be fine. Maybe this is what they need, maybe this is what will keep them stable, something to care for. Kris reels in despair, it's clear that Noelle is not in a sane state of mind... but neither is he. Months later, Noelle finally goes to labor, and The Baby is (You).

Okay, proper melty began.
>>3799321Yeah, the only code only character I can think of in Undertale is the demon text. Which is probably Chara(?) so that still doesn't fit.
Although thinking about demons makes me think about Gaster and the number 6 again. I've seen some people positing 666 = Gaster = pointed hell, which is an interesting connection. Although for me the vibes feel off, Gaster has some vague demonic stuff around him, but the Number 6 isn't related to demons in UT or DR.
6 is related to Gaster, his Goners, puppets, and cats. While the number 9 is related to Chara and demons. That and the idea of Gaster as a literal pointy tailed devil feels off, the vibes just feel incorrect. I wouldn't be surprised if Gaster was somehow the pointed tail that the kids followed, but as you said Gaster is all about being shattered across time and space. With the one confirm shard of him being a face and the other possibly being the Forgotten Man. Neither of which seem to be antagonistic characters, the Man even seem to have a very hard time existing in the world at all.
Gaster as just this guy who's metaphorically a devil and has this singular self that hangs out inside of a Bunker in order to do ??? also doesn't really have a motive. I guess there's the angle of satan being the opponent who creates obstacles, and thus Gaster is the metaphorical game designer of DR, but I don't think he's the creator of the prophecy and I don't really like the idea of this pure evil antagonist who's just torturing a bunch of kids for fun.

>>3799403Yeah I think so too, my biggest problem with Gaster is just the role he'll play in the story. Honestly he doesn't seem like the main villain and I think a lolsorandom mastermind who tortures the main cast for the sake of videogame is too meta by Tobys standard.
Sure Flowey was a commentary on completionism and how we buy into games and feel like we *HAVE* to play them. Or more broadly how we but into concepts like that and have to act on them, but he still had a non-metanarrative role.
Besides, I don't like the idea of Gaster creating the entire world, or even the Dark worlds. Especially since there's implications of him being an outside force that changed things, failing to take the reigns of the vessel, but I think, successfully introducing Susie into the story as a disruptive element. Although I don't think that's perfect either...

So, combined with the newly revealed fact that Jevil was the one telling King about the Knight, this basically confirms the Knight was the strange someone who talked to Jevil, right?
The kings were locked away because Spade King suddenly decided to overthrow them out of nowhere, and this only happened after the Knight showed up, who Jevil was responsible for telling King about? And Jevil only went crazy after talking to a strange someone? Sounds to me like they're the same.

Just realized why Kris always acts like zombie when he removes soul from his chest. He is doing it on purpose to mislead (You) about his capabilities. You would assume that he can barely function without (You) and that he barely had time to shamble to his front yard during bathroom break to slash tires, while in reality he can run just fine and entire town was available to him, for example.
>>3799702I like more than Gaster schizo stuff but it still feels a bit of since Gerson and the whole fate thing seem to be about writing your own path. Even going back to DR"s origin, I think the dream Toby has was a Mother 3 alternate ending. He's talked about how much he's stolen from mother 3 before. Toby irl had the idea for DR start as a fanfic and then used that to write his own story, like with Gerson and the prophecy and perhaps like Gaster did, and perhaps like Susie will.
I think the Angel is sort of an analogue to the Dark Dragon and the one ending is like Undertale's neutral route where you come to the same event but what you do shapes the world to come.
>>3799702>Main theme of Deltarune is treating fictional things with respectIt's stupid, but there is something about it. Undertale was all about making you feel empathy towards fictional characters, and Deltarune actually explores this phenomenon inside its universe.
What I want to know is how susie can enter dark worlds if (if what we heard on the phone means what we think it does) kris can't enter them without (YOU). Like does she have a soul? Do you actually not need a human soul and kris is like a shambling zombie without us that'd turn into a darkner? But he seems completely capable of walking around town and speaking to people and even carrying berdly around, so he can't be literally a corpse. Going by what we know that line seems like undecipherable nonsense, no?
>>3799770>(if what we heard on the phone means what we think it does)It doesn't. It was foreshadowing for entering the titan to seal it.
>>3799770>Like does she have a soul?all lightners have souls as far as we know, we just don't know how monster souls are different from human souls in DR yet, or if there even is that big of a difference, or even if susie herself is half human or something (cuz bleeding and the evidence for monsters bleeding is all over the place)
I personally believe kris can last without the soul due to residual DT and eating pie/chocolate to boost energy
>>3799771the japanese text seems to imply kris can't just enter the dark world at all without the soul, and why wouldnt kris remove it in weird route in chapter 2 too if he hates it?
maybe as other anons theorize, the soul is needed for dark worlds to differentiate darkners from lightners and soulless kris would become a darkner or even another knight, since I believe the knight is dess' soulless body
>>3799770We've seen several Lightners enter the Dark World, so we can assume they all have souls of their own. Kris' situation is unusual, he has a soul from the external source, and it might even be special, as Ralsei describes it:
> * That's a SOUL, the culmination of a HUMAN's being!> * Not only does it represent one's WILL and COMPASSION...> * But it also has the power to DETERMINE FATE.
>>3799776>the japanese text seems to implyProve it
>>3799771>>3799776>>3799777Also, after seeing us seal fountains 10 times in perfectly controlled, peaceful conditions, she only noticed the red soul after jumping into the middle of a titan/dark fountain? Is she stupid? It's right in the middle of the screen
>>3799780I think those parts where you seal the fountain normally, the soul didn't literally jump out of kris' body, that was just a cool visual thing to show the player
but inside the titan it might have actually left the body for that moment
>>3799781Why though, there's absolutely no reason to make that assumption. I was asking jokingly but it is a bit goofy, there's also numerous gags of characters including susie talking to each other during battles and directly noticing things on the battlefield but not the soul. It feels a little sloppy that it's supposed to be some sort of reveal after all that but it doesn't really matter
>>3799780It's not about noticing the soul, it's about noticing what it's capable of ESPECIALLY after she saw the prophecy panel refer to Kris as THE CAGE. Before she just thought it was some cool thing humans could do to seal the fountains and didn't think twice about it, but after seeing the panel and our abilities in the church, she's starting to question things.
>>3799770Well Susie does have a Soul so any potential problems with having one wouldn't imply to her, we don't really have a reason to think soullessness is the default state for Lightners.
But for Kris there are two options.
>He absolutely needs the soul to open a fountain>He needs the soul to close fountains and since thats part of the plan he needs to bring it along.
>>3799788That's a fair take, I can see that
>>3799789Do you have anything concrete to base that assumption on? That all lightners have souls, doesn't ralsei call it a "human soul"? I'm just saying it's a pretty big logical leap, and without it these things seem much more vague and weird, if you wanted to make conjectures based on existing info we'd be talking about all /humans/ having souls, like in undertale, if anything that /is/ a reason to think that for lightner /monsters/ "soullessness is the default state"
Don't take this as me just being an asshole, but I think it's good practice to run these theories through some criticism so they don't go into completely retarded directions with 0 basis
>>3799795> * (It's Book 1 about SOULS. Read it?)> * The SOUL has long been called many things.> * The font of our compassion. The source of our will.> * The container of our "life force."> * But even now, the true function of it is unknown.
>>3799795>That all lightners have souls, doesn't ralsei call it a "human soul"?the menu itself at first has kris' title be "human: body contains a human soul", which implies monsters have monster souls
>>3799795Aside from what the other two guys said, it was talked about up thread but Susie is heavily perseverance coded. Although that's just an argument for Susie having some connection to perseverance.
>>3799792Yeah, "can't enter," doesn't specify what. The assumption is that it's referring to the dark world, but having text broken up is the easiest way for a writer to create false expectations. As I mentioned earlier, it could just as easily be talking about entering the titan to seal it, because without us to unleash they wouldn't be able to break the outer shell covering the mouth.
>>3799797>>3799795also queen said all lightners have determination (and we saw it when susie opened the fountain), and the soul is the source of DT as far as we know
>>3799799That's a theme for sure, but I don't know about specific evidence for monster souls
>>3799796This might be though, we'll know for sure when we see a monster die for real (good thing we're controlling the only human in town)
Oh, and another thing that's been on my mind, the twisted sword. From what I've seen people theorize it could free kris from us or something, since it has that trance down effect, but we're not actually hypnotizing him, he can rip us out of his chest at any moment, and to go further he's the one that seems to be keeping us hostage for a yet unknown goal - so what the fuck is a trance down sword for, the only character that's in any sort of a trance is noelle in the weird route. Is one of the characters a fucking sleeper agent or something, hypnotized to not remember something significant? There's no theory I can think of that isn't retarded, so far all playable characters seem very much of sound mind and have no 'trance' to 'lose'
>>3799810the sword isnt for kris, it is for the knight
>>3799811TOBY "KINO" "RADIATION" FOX YOU DID IT AGAIN
>>3799810I like to believe the the sword will give the SOUL more freedom
Trance, as shown when Noelle casts Snowgrave, has you do things without seeing or remembering them
kind of like what happens to us when the screen cuts to black
we can't see and can't choose, things happens and we only find out because someone talks about it, like with Noelle in ch4 snowrape
but with trance down that sort of thing would stop
you'd be present at all times, no more bullshit
alas we'll never know until we get it
>>3799811>give it to the knight>"Oh sweet, a better weapon">starts whacking you with it
>>3799827Imagine the catharsis of getting complete freedom after a game's worth of getting kicked around, used and manipulated, even if it's on the most evil route, I don't care if at that point the only thing to do would be fighting all the beloved characters to crawl out of the bunker or whatever, it'd be ME doing it
>>3799845>Soul gets complete freedom>You can't control it anymore
>>3799859>Thanks, Partner!
>>3799770All monsters have souls, dude. How can people forget this?
>>3799859SOUL being their own character would be so based for the meltdown in the fanbase.
>>3799877nah I don't want another scapegoat like chara, let the fanbase own their own actions
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QODHktslqqs
>>3799878I also want the SOUL to be their own character to make midtwits like you who point out "player is le responsible for the videogame actions!" To get mad, too.
>>3799887>Chara's SOUL is inside Frisk.Wrong. It's Chara's essence. Frisk's soul is just hers.
>jaru thinking the knight is the mayor and dess is a red herring
other way around, its so funny seeing theorists thinking dess is obvious when the average player doesn't even know who dess is (though toby might still pull a fast one on us, but I think that would just be a bad idea)
speaking of, if tobias didn't want people to think the knight was dess he would have used this animation for the sword summon instead of the bat, and the knight's sword even looked like more katana like in early sprites
>>3799899She wasn't obvious before, yeah
But the "Asgore running over Dess" memes have gone mainstream and pretty much cemented Dess=Knight in people's minds, especially considering that the lyrical versions that are currently uber-popular all outright state that Dess=Knight.
Though Toby definitely did not account for that.
>>3799638>Notice how supply closet is devoid of anything except for dust and RalseiDont forget Lancer, you get attacked by him before you even see Ralsei. In fact, knowing what we know about Lancer, that's pretty out of character now. He was killing on sight, no jokes or flaming bicycles until after we met Ralsei. Susie had to teach him to be scary later, so I wonder if that means anything
>>3799702>Main theme of Deltarune is treating fictional things with respectThis message will always doomed because Toby has already not followed it, both in the past, present, and likely future. He created a fictional universe just to allow others a path to wiping it away completely, he's currently creating another fictional universe with a path that involves the complete destruction of one of it's more frail character's minds, and now he's making commodities out of the fictional characters he himself is designing for nothing but his and the people he allows to torture them's profits. Doubly so if in the future he does actually make Lightner merch.
>"You need to treat everyone, even fictional beings, with respect">"Buy our new plush of Kris with a representation of his own SOUL you can gut him to see, and a poster of the fun gang's final traumatic encounter"From what Im seeing it's actually very lucrative to exploit fictonal characters and Im being told not to by the guy making his empire out of them
>>3799904>>>"Buy our new plush of Kris with a representation of his own SOUL you can gut him to see, and a poster of the fun gang's final traumatic encounter"toby specifically went out of his way to not make a plushie of the lightners though, despite fangamer probably frothing at the mouth on how much bank they'd make on them
>>3799899Give him some time, he's a bit slow and it's only part 1 of his chapter 4 playthrough.
>>3799906Yeah thats why it's after
>Doubly so if in the future he does actually make Lightner merch.Im refering to the potential future of the merch. And even now, the Ralsei plush has his manual and some other shit inside him you can only get by cutting him open right? It's already happened, it'll just get worse if he does it to Lightners too. Toby isnt taking that lesson to heart, so if it's the message of deltarune in the end it will fall completely flat
>>3799876Wasn't it just boss monsters?
>>3799899Has Jaru seen his vindication yet?
>>3799913Boss Monsters are the only ones whose SOULs persist after death. But all monsters have it.
>>3799913No, boss monsters were just the only ones whose souls persisted briefly after death. For the rest, their souls dusted along with their bodies.
>>3799914No, he just fucked around town for the first part of his chapter 4 playthrough.
He does think Jevil knowing the future firmly supports timeloop theory. But he might connect the dots about the Knight knowing the prophecy and thus the Strange Someone(probably Dess) imparting that knowledge onto Jevil as well.
>>3799915>>3799916huh, alright, I haven't played UT in many years, good to know there's some more base for that line of thinking then
Why does recruiting/losing enemies not exist until Chapter 2?
Is Chapter 1 meant to be a sort of tutorial chapter where you can learn how fighting works without any permanent impact, or did Toby just not think of it until later? I find it hard to believe he just didn't think of it
>>3799939>or did Toby just not think of it until laterI think this alongside the weird route were thought up back when toby was making DR by himself, so he was going to make it a straight forward game
now that he has a team, he could increase the scope a bit
>>3799941>>3799939It all feels very smoke and mirrors, like all that recruiting shit isn't gonna amount to anything, you're not gonna get a rocket slime-style giant tank you can staff with all your collected darkners.
Not that it won't make any difference, there's already per-chapter differences when you don't collect everybody, but it doesn't feel important game-wise, it's just a requirement for a cutscene
>>3799899The whole idea that Carol is the knight and Dess is the red herring is so funny when the katana is literally the most OBVIOUS knight hint ever.
All the association with Dess and bats is stuff you'd only notice if you're paying close attention. Hell, even with Raise Up Your Bat, you literally can't even read the lyrics because you're focusing on hitting the notes PLUS they get kidzbopped by Ralsei anyway.
Meanwhile you can walk into Carol's kitchen and see a huge ass katana lying there in plain sight that's certain to make you immediately think "wait, the Knight had a long sword!"
And an average layman casually playing the game without looking up lore or sweepstakes pages doesn't even know Dess is missing to begin with, it's only IMPLIED in the game itself. She's not "obvious" at all.
>>3799939It may or may not be a bug, but it actually IS possible to retroactively lose a chapter 1 recruit now if you kill the ribbicks in chapter 3 after getting them to 100% mercy. Some of them becomes Rabbicks at that point, and it counts them as LOST. They still show up in castle town though afaik but they are removed from the recruits menu
>>3799942Recruiting will only matter for "the angel's heaven" ie the post game castle town (we) get sealed off in at the end of the game
think about it with the battle dojo, the sound test, and now all the minigames
Violent players get an empty castle town with barely anything to come back to.
>>3799946Alternatively truly violent people get an altered castle town with a unique boss rush because that's exactly what omori did with the hikkikomori route
>>3799946That sucks dude I don't care about a town's worth of single dialogue line npcs and a couple shitty minigames
If toby cared he'd make it a dating sim with all the cute pointy snout enemies + a proper bossrush
>>3799948>If toby cared he'd make it a dating sim with all the cute pointy snout enemies>we can finally take up tasque manager's offer to be one of her animalsthe angel has truly meet with it's desire...
>>3799948The game's not over yet, for all we know we'll get darkner animal crossing (but I really doubt it)
>>3799951There's as much of a chance for that as the rocket slime tank segment. It's never gonna happen, but we can dream
>>3799950>malware
>>3799899Well that settles it, Dess is the knight.
If Jaru says she isn't, then she is.
>Player Angel retardation ITT.
>>3799955I wonder if he'll start to think Gerson is the Knight still? After all we don't see them on screen together.
>>3799956There's an unused sprite related to the Angel that literally shows Castle Town I don't think Noelle would be represented by the town that gets named after the player
For all that everyone makes fun of Oberon Smog and the dogshit Dead Asriel theory surrounding it, it's a pretty cool anagram to be honest
>>3799958It's just a placeholder because that's the first prophecy panel. Every single Player Angel argument fits Gaster better.
>>3799959If any Gerson anagram matters, it'd be Goners
>>3799963I'm not the first to point it out, but his history in Deltarune seems like a parallel to gaster in UT. Renowned figures who were said to be consumed by their creation that were eventually succeeded by Alphys who struggles to live up to their reputation.
I wouldn't put it past Toby to have Gerson be a parallel to Gaster since like how Gerson made his own story out of the prophecy its also implied someone(probably Gaster) tried to meddle with the Prophecy.

>>3800020>She just screams, well intentioned antagonist that's gonna have to be stopped. To be fair, so does the Knight. No way in hell she's going to be the ultimate villain of this story.
>>3800024My current assumption is that, fitting with the mother 3 being an inspiration, that Dess/the Knight is going to be someone we're more going to have to save.
Although we don't exactly have a Porky like villain to point to for the person influencing the actions of the Knight and Carol.
Although I also feel like the story could happen without an overarching mastermind like that.
"FRIEND controlling Dess to be the Knight" theory would make the Knight a complete mirror of Kris
>a human controlled by the SOUL, something associated with bright light, and implied to be the angel of the prophecy
>a monster controlled by FRIEND, something associated with "darker than dark" darkness, and implied to be hell's tail from the prophecy
The fact that "an interesting coincidence" name does not block you from proceeding with vessel creation, like it would in Undertale, makes me worried that your vessel is indeed discarded and it will never be brought up again.

>>3800507They definitely suit her room's aesthetic more. Tt's not like they are out of place in Asriel's room. I had stars just like those when I was a kid and they look good anywhere, but I agree it was probably Dess.
The reason why I considered the opposite is because he had a bunch of star attacks in the God of Hyperdeath battle.
>>3800512>weekend at asriel's starring asgore and kris

>>3800414I don't know the full context to the pic, but Human Dessers are a special breed of stupid.
The plot of Undertale flat-out doesn't work if there's another human in the underground. At all.
Sure, you can patch up the Asgore plothole by saying he wouldn't kill his best friend's daughter, that's fair enough. But Asgore is not the real problem here - FLOWEY is.
If there was another human present, Flowey would either not be able to SAVE (which he explicitly could until Frisk fell) or he'd be able to kill Dess and take her soul at any point, because he can just reload if she wins.
He could become God of Hyperdeath without all the monster souls because he could just kill Dess after taking the 6.
He could've killed Dess and Toriel to cross the barrier and grab more souls from the surface to become god, but he didn't. Because Dess isn't a human.
"Antlered girl and her big sis" doesn't even MEAN the big sis doesn't have antlers, this dialogue was written when Chapter 1 was the newest and we knew nothing about Dess, so "antlered sisters" would mean nothing to the viewer. "Antlered girl" would bring to mind the girl you had to talk to in the intro before Susie walked in, so Toby wrote it that way as to tell you "hey, he means Noelle, and Noelle has a big sister."
Alternatively it could be because Sans is from Deltarune and isn't used to the antlered girl HAVING a big sis at all.
Both options are infinitely more likely than it being a hint she's a sekrit human that was in Undertale this whole time that nobody killed because she's speshul and Flowey just didn't notice her despite exhausting every single thing he could possibly do. See how garbage this idea sounds?
You could only reasonably believe Dess is a human if you skipped over all of Flowey's dialogue. And doing that essentially means you're skipping over the entire narrative of the game.
Sorry for going on this huge rant, this theory just really aggravates me.
>>3800586Its still possible even with Flowey, we just cant say one way or the other because Toby refuses to give us a specific timeframe for all the events of undertale leading up to Frisk falling.
Flowey was not created until they had at least 2 souls given the wording of the experiment implying they had multiple, possibly even all 6 because Flowey never mentions meeting another human outside chara iirc, and we do not know how much time passed between all of them. We can, however, safely infer that its been a long time between Chara and Frisk because of the Toy Knife saying Plastic is no longer a common material used in objects, and most monsters no longer knowing what humans look like which would only be possible if most of them are descendents of the original sealed monsters and the ones from the first war arent around anymore. If Dess is human, she had to fall around Chara's time before her death, or even before her, and then die by some circumstance before Flowey is created. It's even possible her soul is one of the 6 Asgore has, whether or not asgore killed her being raised by monsters would naturally mean she wants them freed too. Or hell, maybe she died to intentionally give up her soul and that sacrifice is going to be paralled in Deltarune somehow
>>3800591According to Asgore, Dess is alive
>* But Rudy would be happy to see our world today.>* His daughters get to grow up in the sunlight.
>>3800591Dess is alive, though. Asgore says so in the Alarm Clock dialogue.
>>3800593>>3800594I mean... the humans do get revived at the end of true pacifist but that would also mean that Noelle is somehow still a child after all that time, even if we wanna say Rudy was a boss monster so...
I admit, in terms of hard evidence Im checkmated here. The best I got is it's not 100% guaranteed she's a monster in both because the DR cast is not a 1:1 mirror of the UT cast. Some are dead when they should be alive, some are alive when they should be dead, some have family that were never present before, some like Berdly straight up didnt exist nor get implied to exist in UT, what's one monster actually being a human? I admit though I have nothing that truly holds weight anymore, I just still find the idea that Dess is a human to make DR's story more interesting, especially Kris' character in particular.
>>3800596>the humans do get revivedU WOT M8
>>3800600To be honest, I really hate that theory, but there's just no other explanation for why the coffins are suddenly open in True Pacifist, and bringing the humans back sounds like something Toby wouldve said to try and make the monsters seem even more forgivable
>>3800600It's Yellow related headcanon. Toriel just buried their corpses off-screen.
>>3800601>>3800604I think them getting revived could be cool but the problem is that their bodies are rotted corpses at best, potentially skeletons at worst depending on how far apart the timeline is supposed to be
Though it would be pretty funny for an actual human skeleton to just casually show up and start hanging out with Sans and Papyrus
>>3800616You can perserve corpses in really good condition for quite a while, but even ignoring that we're talking about the universe with healing magic and man made (7 men specifically) gods. If they were brought back to life its not much of a stretch that their bodies were restored as well
Speaking of corpses, could a human corpse come back to life as a Darkner in the same way a monster's dust can?
Not that there's ever gonna be a chance for this to happen in the story, just hypothetically.
>>3800619Ask Kris
My theory? They wouldnt be like dustners, they'd become plain darkners. Dustners work because of how monsters handle their dead. The corpse is not the only part that's buried, its an object as well. The Object gives them form, and the Dust gives them mind and memory. Maybe you could cremate a human corpse and bury it with a proper object and get the same effect, but just dumping a corpse in the dark world? At best you get a version of that person with no memories or knowledge of who they were as a lightner, or the people they knew.
>>3800621This would absolutely never happen and it'd be way too dark and edgy, but imagine if this happened to Kris
Kris dies, probably because the final tragedy prophecy said so, and Susie tries to bring him back by making a Dark Fountain in a room with his corpse. She assumes that because she knew Kris so well during his life, her Fountain would be a "specific darkness" capable of reviving him like Gerson, but another thing Ralsei didn't think to bring up is that it doesn't work like that with human bodies.
So she creates this memoryless, soulless Kris who has no clue who he or anyone around him is. Like if the "she revived Gerson wrong" thing was actually played straight instead of it turning out to be a statue.
>>3800629Imagine if this is also the only time in the entire game "Kris" gets a textbox, as the immediate tipoff that it failed and it isnt Kris anymore
>>3800629>I... already told you this, Kris.>We aren't gonna let that happen.>And... and not even dying's gonna change that, dumbass!
Do you think there'll be another update to the sweepstakes pages for Chapter 5 content when it's almost done or did Toby only do that because he felt bad it was your taking too long?

Revealed to me in a dream:
The "eggs" are actually beads that, when you get all of them, will combine to form a type of rosary. Since getting thee eggs represent helping Kris through mental trauma, the "tail of hell" refers to this process being incomplete, preventing you from fully linking the rosary and leaving that trauma unfulfilled.
This doesn't mean I think there will be five more eggs to get (although I think the Tem egg will be relevant), that part's more symbolic.
>>3801089I dont know how much this lines up with your idea, but comparing this to beads gives me an aidea too
What if that's supposed to be the friendship bracelet? It's not directly saying something with a tail got the children to explore the forest, it was their desire to "Find Her" instead. The pointed part could be the star thats on the end of it before being rearranged

What if the reason Ralsei told Susie not to heal Kris on her own isn't actually because she sucks at healing, but it's the opposite?
Because Susie is fated to become a good healer during Chapter 4 and Ralsei just doesn't know exactly when.
And if Susie heals Kris, then they'd move on through the church world on their own, meaning Ralsei wouldn't be there to destroy the prophecies ahead of them he doesn't want them to see.
The more I think about this, the more it makes sense and explains that particularly "out of character" moment where he tells Susie not to heal after encouraging it in Chapter 2
>>3801238I disagree. He wanted Susie to become kinder and fight less since chapter 1, he was scared of her Rude Buster. It wasn't out of character for him either, he is very bad at reading other people's feelings. It is very similar to what happened in chapter 1, where he told Susie off for being a bad hero even though she outright said to him she doesn't wants to be one to begin with.
>>3801251The idea is mainly just that he didn't want them to go forward alone and see the prophecies, and if that means telling Susie to back off from healing without him for now, he'll do whatever it takes. Even if it unintentionally crushes her self esteem.
And that he'd know she'll become a good healer regardless of his actions there because of the prophecy.
>>3801238I think it's what you said and him being autistic and wanting to be efficient at it at the same time.

Are you seriously implying, Tony, that the entire sequences of the Weird Route, the prophecy being shattered and the inevitable destruction of the world either was all because of CATTI? Based?? I want to fuck Catti now??
>>3801373Yeah, but it says "tall sink", both Frisk and Chara were short. It was someone tall who was split instead. I wonder why we haven't seen Papyrus lately
Sheesh, he's relentless tonight.
I hope Toby Fox actually delivers a good design for Dess, i do not want to grow attached to the fandesigns of her. At a bare minimum, give her short pitch-black hair (just like that black deer from the mantle game)

>>3801393To be honest, having their firstborn take a lot from her father is a cute detail. But to me, it's all about that black 8bit deer from the game, that shit is a much better clue, especially because if Deltarune is setup the way it does, the ARG shit to fuck with the files = you are communicating with the lost one (remember the FindHer shit?), meaning that you found her, or at least you found a physical aspect of Dess.
The next step here is blind guessing, is Dess going to have black hair or is her body black? We'll never know any time soon, insert deltawait.gif here
All the Holidays seem to have different colored skin/fur and Antlers.
Noelle's is Brown
Rudy's is Red
and Carol's is Grey with blue coverings for her Antlers. Dess color is going to be Black if the Mantle is anything to go by which also matches her rebel/rough personality.
>>3801399What if Dess colored her antlers red to look like a cool demon?
Gives her another Kris similarity
>>3801405I'd rather think she colored her antlers neon green if her room is anything to go by. Or a hair too.
>>3801399Holidays being different color is a good catch, but I don't think she's going to have black body purely for practical reasons - it would be bitch and a half to make a sprite for her in that case. I vaguely recall Toby saying that he regrets making Susie's light world hair too dark because it was too hard to see during the introduction. No, I think that black deer in the game is reference to her Knight form instead.
Guys, I think we need to look into this scene further. On one side, we have Susie unplugging controller - severing the control. On the other hand, MiniKris fucking dies when this happens. We already seen something like this with Spamton Neo, and it deeply rattled Kris back then.

>>3801978Who the fuck would like to see some random nerd mashing Z to get through dialogs in an RPG? This completely goes against the point of the game.
>>3802015Tons of people, considering how popular JRPG runs typically are at GDQ, otherwise they wouldn't keep running them. Besides, Deltarune lets you just hold down C.
>>3802018>considering how popular JRPG runs typically are at GDQYeah, I know, that's why I've always been baffled by it. Being able to """"speedrun""""" a JRPG isn't impressive or entertaining to me at all. And by speedrun I mean play for multiple hours but without reading the story (which is normally the point of the game).
>>3802020For other RPGs it's at least interesting since they're having to route around and break the battle system to circumvent the scaling of JRPGs. The average person is not going to beat an end-game area at level 1.
Deltarune though? You're auto-scaled every chapter. Every attack is irrelevant if you're skilled enough. The entire speedrun is just holding [C], using some glitches to skip cutscenes entirely, picking maybe an obscure strategy for bosses to maximise time (assuming FIGHTing isn't the fastest way), and just playing well enough to not die. It lacks all of the resource management and system breaking necessary to make the route itself interesting, especially since every Dark World in Deltarune is a straight line.
>>3802020>>3802023Really it just comes down to how popular the games themselves are. People see a game they like and donate for it. You need to really make an out-of-control entertaining glitchfest in order for a less popular or obscure game to get popular with the SDQ audience, and at that point it's usually because TASbot is involved.
>>3802023Well, I guess the scope of such a speedrun is still so limited that I see zero enjoyment to be had from watching it for hours. And yes, for Deltarune, it seems completely pointless. I think experiencing an RPG this way for the time just spoils it for most people.
>>3802027Makes sense. The GDQ audience is composed of the most brainless normalfags the human mind can imagine, so this makes sense. The hosts are so obnoxious too that they can even turn an actually interesting run into cancer.
>>3802014i was gonna say something about them maybe not wanting to do 3+4 considering it only came out a month ago, but never fucking mind i guess
Since Toby has proved that making theories just isn't worth it, here is what will probably my last one:
The moral alignment of the lightner characters will not be something simple as good/evil. Specially Kris.
Kris is doing way too much shady stuff, like straight up misleading Susie about opening the bunker and so on. He probably isn't some sociopath given all the times he defended her.
He is probably going to turn out as some sort of anti-hero or anti-villain, I feel he has a noble goal but is willing to do a lot of unsavory stuff to achieve that.

>>3802062>he doesnt resist killing his friendsI think both the game and (You) just took him by surprise, it all happened too sudden for him to react and he didn't expected that it had friendly fire. Bunker is something that he can see from far away, that's why he was able to resist.
>>3802066>I think both the game and (You) just took him by surpriseI kinda doubt that, I immediately knew what was up when there was no music meaning no monsters around, kris suddenly had his friends, and I found the sword. No way kris didnt immediately recognize the solution either, especially when the room it places you in after the sword is the room where you need to break through

Eram is a completely different boss dynamic than the rest of the franchise. You don't get acts, you don't get to prepare your strategy with items, you must learn a whole new gameplay. And Eram is pretty much a non-character, the snowgrave dialogue is a little better but still nowhere close to the other secret bosses.
The Knight fight was cool, but it was more like if Flowey decided to show up to beat you after Undyne. And yet again, the Knight is a non-character so far, zero dialogue from her.
The Mikes are fun, fit into the chapter 3 theming, but nowhere as challenging as a secret boss, and not actually in chapter 3. And it feels in poor taste to mock the people who created what is essentially free advertisement for his game like this.
None of them scratch that secret boss itch. It was possible to break the pattern in more interesting ways. Toby could have just come with an excuse to plug Ramb and have the Eram segments be a gimmick inside the fight and I'd have been satisfied.

>3/4 secret boss battle themes reference a part of Battle Against a True Hero
>3/4 secret boss battle themes use the Freedom Motif
Technically, Battle Against a True Hero is equally as likely to be a staple of the secret bosses.

I'm not blaming you guys, but I'm mad and want to yell at you.
>>3802629>only Undyne/Mettaton/Spamton got it, right? And Eram, and according to the wiki Gerson got it too, but I can't find it in his songs.
>What does it imply?NEO is used in text by Spamton, Queen and Tenna so far, and by Jevil through voice lines.
Some files in the game have NEO in their names, notably one of Susie's songs.
NEO is possibly another acronym.
>>3802639>Gerson got it too, but I can't find it in his songs. It's not the same part of the song that Mettaton, Spamton and Eram use so that makes sense.
It's the Ruins part.
And the slow part of Hammer of Justice is structured after the slow part of BAATH even if it doesn't actually share a motif.

>>3802703I thought he was just talking out loud
>>3802571It's a fairly minor hiccup compared to the things that what the Knight only being of the phone and other alternate call theories have to go up against.
The voice on the phone says they'll be there soon, presumably to deal with the situation at hand, i.e Susie having the guitar. Then Carol shows up and bee-lines for said guitar.
>>3802703asgore isnt calling anyone though, he is talking to himself (or the plant in carol's room)
speaking of plants, seeing as how he treats them as actual people, I could see them adoring him in a flower king dark world
maybe it is because he knows dark worlds are real that he treats them so well

>>3802714Yeah, he does it in the normal Route after calling the voice on the phone.
>>3802714it happens in both routes which is why people think that between the EQUIP scene and the bathroom, kris called carol
>>3802707Or what if its the opposite, seeing as he keeps all of them locked away from each other in glass cases? Maybe it becomes a "What if the SOULs in Undertale could still talk" scenario

>>3802721I felt so bad for both of them at the end of chapter 4. They wanted to be together to process what happened in the dark world, but Toriel and Sans messed it up for them.
>>3802594The reason ERAM is like that is so we get a 1:1 fight for the soul, despite Jevil already having been the counterpart to the soul.
Spamton was a 1:1 kris fight
Gerson was a 1:1 susie fight
next is a 1:1 ralsei fight
>>3802741>Spamton was a 1:1 kris fightOnly on Weird Route.
>>3802743>>3802741ERAM is our mandatory 1:1 Kris fight.
>>3802741I'm not that confident in the next one being a Ralsei solo fight because it feels too pattern-y to expect it after Susie got one. Plus, Susie having solo fights where your soul jumps in for her already had precedent with Lancer.
Ralsei is absolutely going to have a major development with the next schizoboss though, I'm confident in that.
>>3802745 (me)
But at the same time, I COULD see Ralsei's dialogue about "not being a Player 1" being foreshadowing to him getting a solo fight.
Not gonna hold my breath on it, but it could be.
>>3802744ERAM is a 1:1 for the soul though, we directly attack through minikris, we dont tell kris to attack, we just do it ourselves.
>>3802741>next is a 1:1 ralsei fightIm dreading that for no other reason than I dont like ralsei, its going to be like your parent forcing you to let your little brother play a game with you. Niko he is not

>>3802752>Kris now knows that its possible even while we're controlling him to form our own mini vessel in his image, and still fight fine with it>Said Vessel can also still hurt him when it gets hurt>(We) can still control it when he drops the controllerWhen the game is said and done, Kris will have too much PTSD to enjoy Dragon Blazers ever again
>>3802757>Eram was actually calling out everyone who says "What the fuck, how could Chara do this?" this whole time
>>3802758I must have gotten too much into the [Freedom] message because the moment i realized it was (You) directly fighting a challenging enemy without Kris' bitch ass in the way i was hyped. Ended up genuinely enjoying the fight and indeed the whole Zelda segment.
>>3802759"Chara is innocent" and "It was Chara not me" are both equally retarded takes on Genocide
Chara tells you himself that he represents the feeling you get when your stats go up, when you grind and get rewarded for it, when you play a game to absolute completion before moving on to the next
"Chara" as a metaphysical concept is part of you, "I did the Genocide Route" and "Chara did the Genocide Route" are both true because they mean the same thing
People never caught onto this for some reason
>>3802764>People never caught onto this for some reasonBecause Toby presented it in the most godawful way, where she's both That and a legitimate character that existed prior to the events of the game that the Player never did and is the reason the entire story is happening the way it is. He couldnt pick a lane and missed the banana because of it
>>3802765Yeah, making Chara simultaneously Asriel's best friend who died fused with him and Personified Level Grinding was a really questionable storytelling choice that heavily muddied the meaning of the Genocide ending
So people missed the point of the whole Genocide speech
Maybe the whole Kris and (You) plot point is Toby trying to retell it in a less retarded way?
>>3802765>>3802767Part of the reason why I subscribed to the NarraChara theory is it basically means Chara's phantom attached itself to the game's UI, which in turn explains its behaviour during the genocide run. The "Chara" we see at the end of genocide is basically self-aware code.
>>3802769Chara is the narrator, she's just not the narrator all the time. Toby was also a bit inconsistent with that there, but as is the only text we can say 100% is here is the red text but I think there are some strong white text contenders as well.
>>3802770Honestly I can just chalk it up to Chara's vibes being different depending on what path we take. He knows we're the ones with the real control, so either we prove him wrong or give him a revenge fantasy.
I'm retarded, can anyone explain why people are spamming the "player is angel" theory absolutely everywhere?
I've seen zero evidence pointing towards that besides "vibes from that one line of prophecy".
It seems like everything is pointing at angel noelle.
t. someone who somehow avoided all community theories until post ch3-4+sweepstakes
>>3802802>the statue of the angel on the christmas tree falling on the SOUL during that one section in Chapter 4>panels of the angel having a human face on it (look at the trailer for Chapters 3 and 4 again and you'll see it)>the SOUL is associated with bringing light to banish the Titans and other beings from the deepest parts of the Dark (like how an angel would)That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I'm sure there's more, though.
>>3802802>>3802805There's an unused graphic for the Angel prophecy panel that depicts Castle Town, and Castle Town is referred to as PLAYERNAME-Town by one of the NPCs
>>3802806castle town is the placeholder used for the very first prophecy you see in the dark world
>>3802805>panels of the angel having a human face on it (look at the trailer for Chapters 3 and 4 again and you'll see it)that's more pareidolia
>>3802802the actual reason people are saying the player is the angel is because of the hidden angel prophecy being obscured by a black pillar, and thus reflecting you back at your screen, and susie saying how she can't understand what she is looking at (because she is looking at a 3D human)
I don't like this theory and I think the player being the angel is stupid, but it has some points
>>3802758Kris really should have thought about all this shit before he signed his body over to (Me). Read the terms and conditions next time, dipshit!
>>3802805I just spent time trying to hunt down what trailer you're talking about (they all seem the same minus the dog suit intro in some of them), and I literally can't figure out what you're talking about.
If you mean the climbing section part, that's just a broken glass texture, nothing to see. Nothing suggestive in the pattern of glass either.
If you mean the cathedral floor tiles with the angel symbol... Sorry, nothing here either.
I don't see any actual prophecy panels in any trailers. Steam promo screenshots have the Jockington panel, but that's it.
First point feels weak, seems more associated with the Holidays than the SOUL.
Third point is actually fair.
>>3802806I'm honestly doubtful of dataminer schizo theories. Especially if the text/rooms cannot display in game at all, unlike Fun events in UT.
>>3802809Yeah, this is the one I heard, and it really doesn't convince me in the least so I thought I was missing something.
I really doubt Toby would do a "black screen is le you" thing.
>>3802824Yeah, the floor tiles Kris and Susie run over while getting chased by a bunch of dark flames.
>>3802802for some reason a bunch of retards love this idea so they spam it constantly despite no concrete evidence

>>3802802WE LITERALLY HAVE AN ANGEL DOLL FALL ON US
THIS IS BASIC FUCKING SYMBOLISM
>>3802948I'm a PlayerAngelfag but to be completely fair, it could also reference us possessing Noelle in the weird route
why can't the angel just be both the player and noelle depending on the route
like undertale having it as asriel or (you)
it's already pretty widely theorized that "the girl" can be reinterpreted as somebody else depending on route so why not
>>3802759Except Eram says Kris is the one who does that, Charafag.
>>3802802It's just people that want a "God bad" JRPG plot but with them as the god.
>>3802953In Undertale it was Chara and Asriel.
>>3802953I mean it could be, it just seems for Noelle to also be god on top of everything else she has going on.
That and Susie seems really freaked out by the Angel slide we don't see.
>>3803006Remember the Waterfall drawing about a monster with a human SOUL that is explicitly said to be "unsettling" and freaks Frisk out?
>>3803032I could see that, there is that scrapped Waterfall Mural of a Noelle-like-thing fighting a giant snake monster. So if its like a weird route thing where you take over Noelle and you transform her into a giant monster but even with her relevance to the story as if, the idea of Noelle literally being the god of the deltaverse(?) in every route seems a bit silly.
Although I guess that would depend on the execution.

>>3803398Dunno about "still do," but a lot of people thought that either "Ann Tenna" would be a girl, or "Ann" and "Tenna" would be separate characters who were either twins or a couple (kinda like the weather duo).
>>3803402I've seen people calling Tenna a she in post-Chapter 3 release discussion.
Yes, after the chapter that repeatedly calls him Mr. and says "he" and "him" and literally just LISTEN TO HIS VOICE.
This is even worse than when people thought Ralsei was a girl in Chapter 1 because like, at least he had the femboy thing going on, even if it's still retarded because he's repeatedly called a prince and a fluffy boy.
