i think chapter 4 is better than chapter 3, but chapter 3, assuming you're getting the shadow mantle, has such a better pace and building up tension than chapter 4, plus the presence of a villain like tenna (who is hysterical), crossing into his breakdown which is a bit gnarlier and then the sudden horror with the knight, is really lacking in chapter 4
chapter 4 is much more frontloaded, you have the really good shit with the church and noelle's house, you get mike, etc, then the dark world is like, it's pretty, but it's just kind of whatever. it feels like you're mostly spinning your wheels trying to find stuff, featuring really good susie character development, and then the titan plus ralsei tragedy was an amazing cap to it
but it just has that middle part that doesn't feel like it's building up the same way that chapter 3 did, anyone else get that vibe?

So in Chapter 3 normal route, during quiz segments about Kris, they will cough to try and help the player make the right choice. This is noticable when picking what their favorite food is, what Ralsei's favorite Smash character, and a few other times. It's the same cough they do when trying to signal to the Knight. However, Kris doesn't do this cough during quiz segments on weird route. This could mean a few things
>Kris hates you / the soul so much that they'd rather spite you and let you choose wrong and eat the damage from Tenna's game
>they don't want to share any personal information with you because you'll use it against them
>Kris has lost a degree of autonomy due to your ch2 antics
I am most interested in the third possibility. We see being away from the soul drains Kris more and more in chapter 4, with their vision darkening around the edges and whatnot. On weird route, they stuff you in a box and zombie walk to Noelle but seemingly are strong enough to keep up normal appearanced in front of her. I wonder if making Noelle equip the thorn ring seals you to the weird route, and thus no more chances to abort. And I wonder if we'll see Kris lose more and more autonomy from that.
