Plus Toby has every reason to be writing with the conversing internet in mind. Deltarune and Undertale has always been internet driven games. I actually think this might make sense if you buy into the Chara=player representative theory, in which case its not necessarily literally Chara from undertale that is the soul, but rather a deltarune exclusive character that serves the same metanarrative role as Chara did in undertale, the same way that Kris isnt literally Frisk, but fulfills the same metanarrative role in deltarune as Frisk did in Undertale.
