Guys I was thinking about this today but what if the Deltarune and Homestuck connection is actually more closer than we think.

what if chapter 5 really is "the end" of the story and prophecy according to gerson where no matter if we're in the weird route of not out choices don't matter and we get the same ending?
What if what we're playing now is the equivalent to a doomed session pre-scratch?
What if chapter 6+7 is a "post scratch" session where the only actually successfully way to defeat the prophecy is by "breaking the game"? (in same way that in order to defeat lord english you have to break the narrative)

The only thing is that Spamton doesn't have a soul to completely make a trade with Chara to restore the world to before things got a little too fucked up. Things like Sans, Birdly dying are all just videogame things; placeholder leftovers, glitches in the code, ACE, other exploits. I call Sans a placeholder because there's been a few times (esp in the indie game scene) where dataminers have ruined ARGS or secret unlock conditions, which is why Sans is a dickhead.
The black knight is just the malformed remnant data of whoever was on the other side, where his shape is corrupted and the film structure is there but not complete properly.
Snowgrave is actually the reverse engineering/decomp qhwre you start forcibly editing data to go your way.
Spamtenna was never a relationship or had connections it was just a mistake why people tried to rebuild the original project and misconstued certain visions. The weird route isn't breaking the prophecy. It isn't the only meaningfully different way to interpret the prophecy.
It isn't the prophecy, but it isn't not the prophecy. If the normal path of the prophecy and all its variations are an object, then the weird route is its Darkner self. One may be more real than the other, but both are identified the same by some core force of both the Light and Dark Worlds. Likewise, the events of the weird route may completely differ from the prophecy, but without rendering it null and void. If, at some point, the narrative "darkness" were to be purged, the normal prophecy and its events would hypothetically reassert themselves.

Deltarune is too "standard". There isn't much there to continue the strong subversive/meta legacy of Undertale. The only thing that approaches that somewhat while also being novel is the separation and conflict between the player and the player character. The other non-standard things like the ability to spare enemies is just lifted from Undertale, so I don't give Deltarune credit for that. Especially because it seems to carry far less weight than it did in Undertale, at least thus far. in fact, there seem to be a lot of the same "beats" that are hit in Deltarune. While it's fine and can still make for a good game, I don't think in the end it will be as highly regarded as Undertale is.

Undertale is simply better because it feels way more thematically consistent and held together in it's approach.
There's way too much fluff and excess to Deltarune.

Just the Pacifist/Genocide duality for example, it carries itself properly in Undertale to the point that they're the main selling points of the story, and what the game centers around both story and gameplay-wise. Meanwhile in Deltarune it just feels like fanservice and an addition to the already set in stone story.

I have trouble understanding why anyone who played through both games would think that. Deltarune's narrative is far less ambitious compared to Undertale's. The meta elements aren't as tightly integrated with the plot. The variance in gameplay between the paths and what sort of story is being told is far greater in Undertale. The pacing is much better. The culminating points are much more potent. The characters are more fleshed out. It's not really comparable. That doesn't mean that the story in Deltarune is bad. In fact I enjoy it quite a bit. But it's less of an achievement.

It's a novel element. While there was something like that in Undertale, it wasn't really explored much and was only touched on. So I'll give Deltarune that. But it seems to be the only non-standard thing that the game is doing. Not really comparable to Undertale.

Characters in Undertale have arcs. With pretty much all of them you're at first presented with cartoonish exteriors, which are then subverted to reveal much more depth, if you choose to be nice to them. This style of character writing is also used in Deltarune, but again, this isn't really novel. Plus the way the character depth is realized in Deltarune tends to be far more under-cooked outside of the main trio. So with a lot of the character preferences it's more of a "newer == better" type thing.

What happened to this Anon? Are you now acknowledging that attacking an opponent does in fact depend on what tone a game is going for? And the player new to the game does not necessarily know the tone the game has? It's like expecting someone playing pokemon to refuse to ever have their pokemon attack in fearing that it would be bad if they killed the other pokemon.

A player new to Undertale can be prone to killing because they didn't know the sort of game they were playing. Even Sans acknowledges that this happens. The question to ask is if such a simple mistake warrants having to play the entire game again.
