I grew up there so I'm biased but in the summer it's probably enjoyable for tourists. It's still pretty cheap and the lake is beautiful, probably better food then you'd imagine too.

There are waves but you have to really try hard to surf, I've seen people try at least at atwater beach. I met a guy from south africa at a bar who thought the lake was an ocean lmao
