This is why FFXV always felt off to me. If it came out the way it did at launch and it was still a spin-off I would have been more charitable towards it, but as a numbered entry it just feels wrong to focus so much on the protagonist over the rest of the party.
Imagine going to a D&D session except you find out the Dungeon Master's girlfriend is playing, and as the session plays out you realize the DM is only letting her character have all the cool moments and gear. Then to take a page out of FFXV's book you reach the end boss together, oh never mind, everyone in the party gets incapacitated without a save. But don't worry, GF is here to save the day because this is actually her story and now she gets to go super saiyan and fight the final boss by herself. Very cool.
Haven't played FFXVI yet but I'm guessing it's similarly a one-man show.
