you can find the whole david vs goliath power dynamic and rising to the occasion trope in almost any decent adventure movie/book/game
it raises the stakes usually and makes overcoming a challenge more rewarding as well as making the characters more relatable to the audience
the basic hero's journey at its core is an underdog story
that being said, it has to be compelling which shitfield is not
