The only thing we know for sure is that Noelle and Berdly were in the middle of studying at the desks in the computer lab, which means the fountain had to have been made after they arrived there, which meant either the Knight is somehow capable of making fountains in reverse, or the computer lab fountain was made by someone that wouldn't be strange to see in the computer lab.
It's also impossible for the fountain to have been made in the closet and then the closet door closed until Noelle and Berdly arrive, because there's power wires connecting to an outlet outside the closet which means the door would not be able to close all the way. Enough to hide their identity, not enough to keep the dark world from spilling into the main computer lab.
