It's one of the reasons why I really like Rufus in Remake. They did a good job in playing up his pragmatism and need to surpass his father's legacy. To Rufus, Sephiroth is a pest that his father failed to clean up. And since he and Cloud have a mutual interest, he's willing to at least indulge him at times. I don't think Barret would ever tolerate a deal with Rufus but I still like the idea. Also the scene where Rufus has a meeting with the Shinra brass and he calls them out for enabling his father's stupid ass ideas was fantastic

I don't know how I feel about the Glenn angle mostly because I didn't play Ever Crisis. But Rufus is one of the parts of Remake that I actually like
