Don't forget to add to all those unlikely beneficial circumstances the fact that our solar system happens to be passing through a very peaceful interstellar neighborhood just as our civilization is taking off. An ancient star was nice enough to go supernova and clear a whole bunch of interstellar debris out of our way so we don't get nuked by falling rocks every few thousand years.
