Skimpy dressed loli (stating the 1 dugit age) in the intro, she doesn't even needs to appear ever again, at this point, sexualizing childs in games is literally the only filter.
No yellow paint and no difficulty selector too, and a 150โ‚ฌ pricetag with Denuvo to filter poorfags too I guess.

"Great filter" shit is so fucking retarded. Based on what exactly that hypothesis was formulated? Current human astronomy's very limit of abilities is discerning some planets around nearest stars. Effectively it's almost blind. How can someone like this make claims about the life in galaxy.

Two of those tards main arguments are
>We can't detect their radio transmissions
Someone show those fags a formula for radio waves weakening with distance
>They don't visit Earth
Why would they? Imagine a ship sailing the sea on its own business of some kind, it sails next to an island populated only by monkeys. Would it make a stop to interact with monkeys in some way?

Why would a cargo vessel that travels to make actual profits, or a military vessel on a mission, or whoever else running an operation that requires time and resources, which long-distance travel is, interrupt its voyage for absolutely no practical reason, to contact something completely useless and uninteresting? There is absolutely nothing to look at or grab on Earth for someone capable of interstellar travel. Aboriginals aren't even great apes in comparison, more like some macaques.

>Based on what exactly
It's the mental masturbation that somewhere out there, some other lifeform has superceded faster than light travel and has built an impossible structure around a start that is able to harness infinite energy and they can just teleport around the universe.

Nevermind the fact that the earth is an anomaly because it involved two planets crashing together and merging together and then another planet crashing into that and forming a moon to keep it from being tidally locked and it just happened to be in the safe zone with plenty of water and oxygen and it also has a jupiter sized planet to protect it from getting destroyed by meteors. Even when you're talking about an infinite universe, there's still going to be zero similar things happening. There is a 100% possibility that there is no other intelligent life in the universe capable of leaving their own galaxy

I like the idea that even if one planet has intelligent life, they don't meet the criteria for space travel or are incapable of doing so for whatever reason. Maybe the gravitational pull of their planet is too strong or some shit. There's also that one theory that civilizations die out before reaching the level of space travel, due to war or something similar.

The US used Navajo dudes in WW2 scattered about in different locations to broadcast information over the open radio so you could talk about military shit and the Japanese wouldn't have any idea what was said because apparently nobody else spoke Navajo. They were called Navajo Code Talkers. So you get Code Talkers to translate all the plain words in the code into Navajo so motherfuckers can't comb through that for info and then all your text and voice acting needs to be in Navajo too.

If it's unusual to find an island with any animals on it at all, then you'd probably record it on your log and then maybe report it to someone. I'm sure someone out there in the galaxy would be interested in finding new lifeforms. And otherwise, don't you think the explorers who charted out the shipping lanes would've been interested in checking it out? Primitive humans just fucking around managed to reach all sorts of remote places on the sea.

I don't know how you would design a new game from the ground up to be gatekept and stop normalfags from ruining.
But it's pretty easy to do for an existing franchise. Just don't casualize it and don't pander to normalfags.
Unfounately, bigger devs will always follow the money. So the most players can do is shit on the newer games while playing the older games.

For all you know every planet with life also has civilizations or every 2 planets with multi-cellular organisms have civilization.

With how chaotic space is, it's rather presumptuous to assume that literally every life bearing planet makes it past single-celled organisms before some life ending catastrophe hits the planet, let along intelligent life capable of building civilizations.
Granted, anything regarding life on other planets falls squarely in the category of speculation, given that nobody has proven life exists on any other planets.

"Why hasn't alien species colonized the universe like my heckin star treks and sci-fi stories"
"Why has super advanced civilizations not just spread like a mindless cancer."

I think it's a valid thought experiment to question why we haven't seen life yet, but it's also insanely hubristic and stupid as shit the conclusions raised. It's the same way that someone otherwise smart like hotwheels Stevey hawkins would have some midwit take like
>If aliens encounter us it'll be like the Spanish encountering the Aztecs
That kind of dumb logic falls apart when you see how we treat the Sentinelese (protect them from anyone interfering with them) despite even fucking Somalia being advanced enough to come in and take it over. Why is a space-faring hyper advanced civilization going to bother with engaging in mundane 16th century imperialism? Any resources they need they can either make out of whole cloth or get from a 'dead' planet like mars. Let alone why would they need to mindlessly consume everything in their path?

Maybe you should go look up that formula too. Radio signal strength is reversely proportional to distance^2. What are you trying to detect, something they broadcast for their own use near their own planet, which is hundreds light years away? I doubt you succeed even if you build an antenna in size of Solar system, because that signal will just get lost in ambient noise present in space.

Why would you "colonize" it? Even if you launch a fully capable expedition that will establish a human habitation in the closest system to Sun, Earth won't be able to govern it because there will be 5 year lag in communication. Not to mention going farther than that. A government controlling something larger than a star system seems to be very unlikely.

Another question is why would anyone be so interested about going there in first place. Space travel is dangerous. You personally don't give a fuck because you will die soon anyway, but like fuck a member of species which attained an indefinite lifespan ever gets into a starship. Maybe filling it with robots and genetic material to grow new people if colony is successfully established.

the great filter is very obviously just FTL
the fastest and farthest-reaching signals we can send are radio and this is how far they can reach into only our galaxy out of over 100,000,000,000 galaxies
we're asking
>why haven't we heard from anybody
when we're doing the equivalent of whispering somewhere on earth and expecting anybody on the planet to answer
and until we figure out how to make stable wormholes or something like a functional alcubierre drive, objects with mass will never ever travel at FTL speeds
even light-speed isn't fast enough, it takes over 100,000 years for light to travel just from one side of the milky way to the other
there are definitely aliens out there, but it is unlikely that we will ever encounter them without some insane FTL technology that nobody has even conceptualized yet
space is simply too big

>The desire to initiate new relationships inspite of danger, is way stronger than the "I'll just hide in the dark out of fear".
for humans
i don't really care for Liu's books but his point is essentially an evolutionary one, just on a galactic scale
it essentially boils down to
>all the species left alive were the ones willing and able to annihilate any possible competition as soon as it presented itself
and
>any that hesitated - or did not wish to destroy others - were instead destroyed themselves
I think it's an excessively bleak outlook and Liu isn't the one who came up with it, but I understand the reasoning. The original idea was the 'berserker hypothesis' which posits that all life is being systematically destroyed by a series of self-replicating probes. In the worst case scenario, one is on it's way to us right now, or will be once it picks up our radio signals.
Ultimately, I can neither prove nor disprove it. I can only say "I hope not".

It doesn't even take a particularly bright human intelligence to see that the only reaction to receiving such broadcast would be silence and mobilization of security resources. Why the fuck would you reveal yourself, so the next thing you would receive will be some weapon of mass destruction flung at you just because? Can't take chances with that shit. that isn't relevant, do you even know what the idea being posed is? it's not about humans, it's about any and all life in the universe and how they will respond to the knowledge of other, sapient species
humans will probably be receptive to cooperation, but the problem is that we can't be sure about everyone else
there could be a payload on its way to us right now from a species who sees other life as nothing but a threat to its existence

What would happen if two civilizations that do not wish to destroy others meet then.
And then 2 or 3 civilaztions in a row that meet and don't wish to destroy others, face one that ones to destroy but it's now out numbered 3:1 or even 2:1

An AI is still created by humans, and you don't build intelligence without setting any parameters as its foundation. Make exploration its prime directive, and it will do what no human can. I think explorative AI is the only real impact humans could have on the galaxy or beyond.

It's one of many theories as to why we're alone as far as we know:
>maybe we just happen to be the first species advanced enough to be able to broadcast our existence
>maybe other intelligent species did exist before us but went extinct for reasons before they managed space colonization, with the understanding that space colonization is the final frontier at which point you've "made it" as a species and it's impossible to go extinct so if anyone had managed it we'd know because they'd be all over the place
>maybe other intelligent species do exist but don't broadcast their location because it's not wise to announce your existence to a vast unknown that might be full of predators silently lurking in the darkness

The nearest exoplanet from us is 4 light years away meaning it takes 4 years to send a message and another 4 to receive

How many light years would you deem is too much that you would label interacting with them to be impractical, that number will be the "search radius" for the Aliens

Take into account that the milky was galaxy is 100,000 light years from end to end, and the distance to the next galaxy is 2.537 million light years

So my bet is there are none in our "search radius" if it takes 4 years just to send a message to the nearest rock that has no life in it, but let's just agree to disagree if your number is higher

My point is that our "search radius" is non existant.
It's just earth.
Radio signal are bullets. If non of those hit earth you don't get it.
Aliens could be sending right now a machinegun worth of radio signals and if it doesn't hit earth it doesn't hit earth.
It's a target too small.

For example I could say I personally really enjoy dragons dogma (even worse here if I said "I love this game!" Or something to that effect) its lucid design elements and diegetic narrative are very novel in the gaming landscape even unlike its inferior predecessor dark arisen(i didnt try to fit in with memes or talk stupid to an imaginary audience).

who cares if you can communicate or not. you'll cover the entire galaxy in no time. and that's before you get sci-fi with it, doing weird shit like permanently accelerating and building probes at your target with lasers instead of ever slowing down. presumably someone smart enough to figure out how to do that would also figure out how to get around the error/mutation problem.

with exponential growth, you could turn galaxies into dyson swarms in no time.

yet nobody has. why? because you're too stupid to understand how easy it should be to do so if the universe is uniform? either something out there is invisibly stopping probes, or life has never developed to the point where it hypothetically could do this until us.

I wonder what happens to the entire genre of science fiction or maybe even society in general when we as a planet collectively accept that such fantastical concepts like FTL just aren't going to happen no matter how much we try to science. Do we bother to continue writing or consuming such stories when we can't even kid ourselves that a few centuries or millennia into the future are going to look that much more advanced from where we are now? The hopes and dreams that the 20th century's unique rapid technological advance gave are setting us for some extremely crushing civilizational disappointment. With each year we pass the date that some sci-fi classic thought we'd be at by now.

I think the possibility that human psychology is very self centered and unable to imagine alien minds is also a possibility.
A lot of the assumptions about infinite expansions presume that infinite expansion is useful or desirable. Working with the same limitations we have but a different set of morals and ethics an alien race might conclude that infinitely spreading and consuming resources is not efficient for a long term strategy and alters their biology to stop desiring that. And instead chooses to put all their eggs in the digitization and low energy requirement tree.
Or other possibilities my dumb monkey brain can't come up with because it grew up on Earth and Ipsylon 8.

As always there's the question about just because we can think up an exception doesn't mean EVERYONE is doing that, but the reverse is also true, we could very well be the exception for galactic psychology.

But Dark Forest theory existed before the faggot chinese bugman that coined it, but its well formulated in his book, The Three Body Problem.

Essentially he postulates that the universe is chock full of aliens who have taken the "shoot first, ask questions later" to the extreme. If anything intelligent enough to emit a detectable signal arises, its summarily destroyed. This is because the universe has limited resources and everyone wants them for themselves, and giving time for a response means giving time enough for another species to advance to the point they can shoot you. Its a prisoner's dilemma situation that is intentionally limited in options because the faggot chinese author hates humans and is an awful depressions retard.

Reailzation of FTL travel not being possible is nothing compared to a realization that there isn't really a point in going into space for a member of an extremely advanced civilization.
Consider that you're
>immortal
>have complete understanding of bio-engineering allowing you to make whatever your want for your own use or out of yourself
>have robots at your disposal
Why would you go to space? What's there to find? There are no chemical elements which are not already available in your star system, and no some special unusual life forms that would interest the one who has keys to the biology itself. There are only some sentient cunts, which are unlikely to tell you anything you don't already know, and some of which may be hostile.
There are many reasons to send robots into near and far space for various tasks, but I can't see any for going there yourself instead of staying home and entertaining yourself with whatever you entertain yourself with, like playing video games where space is actually interesting for example.

Mostly because once you have unlocked space colonization and a propulsion that's a vague % of the speed of light, colonizing the entire galaxy is less than a million years away, aka instant considering how old the universe is.

If your galaxy isn't already filled to the brim with alien, then there is none. The probability that you are living basically in near-perfect time sync with a civilization that is space-faring but hasn't grabbed everything yet is lower than OP's chances at getting laid.

Everything is moving away from everything.

Imagine you have two pieces of paper.
Now put a third piece of paper between them. Then put another piece between each of the ones you already have.
The two outside pieces are "moving away" from each other because the space between them is getting larger. Thats what is happening to space.
This is happening to everything in the universe. The farther away something is, the more space there is, and the more it expands (the more "gaps" between the pieces of paper to add more to). To the point some of the farthest things have enough space being added that the apparent distance is being expanded faster than the speed of light.
Pick any given location it would look like things were moving away from it specifically as well.

>normies
Dating sim but it runs real-time. Like can meet one girl only at 2pm the other only at 4pm and so on. You only finish after dating all girls. Normies have to work so they can't do it.
Also use server time so normies can't cheat.
>tourists
Game progresses jarringly slow like need to go to school for a month every morning (real-time) to meet and talk with girl x every other day at time y which gets you to the knowing each other level being still months away from walking home together. Maybe needing around a year or so to reach the dating state for one girl.

Don't.
If you have to read the first two books, they are okay. Luo Ji doesn't seem it but he's fucking based as fuck.
The third book's protagonist is some sort of chinese statement about how retarded and fragile women are. Which is true, but reading it is the most frustrating experience I have ever had. She LITERALLY dooms the human race three times. And everyone just sort of forgives her for it and puts her in a position to do it again. Every time.

Even IF we eventually manage to get a spaceship moving the speed of light reliably, travelling the universe at that speed would still be the equivalent of traveling the world one step a year. However, if such a feat is possible, it'll only be a matter of time before we get spaceships that are MFTL

Problem is that right now we've never detected anything that implies FTL is possible.
We have a few equations where you can sort of squint and cheat the speed of light in a couple ways, but they all require shit that is also theoretical with zero evidence you can do it, like negative mass or energy.

But on the other hand, even with some basic life extension and STL travel you can get pretty fucking far. You just have to forgo any backwards communication. A relatively short hop means no one you knew is alive on Earth when you get to your destination, and by the time you get one two way communication out you might as well be civilizational strangers.
But that doesn't mean that such a trip isn't worth doing.

Are you sure? You're talking about spending trillions of dollar to shoot frozen people into deep space. What you gain out of that is nothing more than the knowledge that, thousands of years from now, humans might possibly be living on another planet. Is that peace of mind worth all the good that you could do for your community and nation with those resources today?

You're in central park during a black out in the middle of the night
do you call out for help, hoping that you'll find some kindred souls or maybe even a cop, possibly alerting every nigger mugger for miles or do you sit tight and wait for morning?
Now apply that concept to your whole planet in the cold dark of the void except there is no cop and there is no morning ever coming. Speaking out is putting a giant signal above your head saying
>please come hit me with relativistic meteors
because if they don't hit you first then you could hit them instead. They could take the chance with contact but the stakes are the lives of their entire civilization, would you?

Yes. Absolutely it is.
Even supposing that no other random disasters threaten the human race, the sun will only last so long. The primary concern for every species is self perpetuation. If we have the means to achieve that past a guaranteed timer, then we need to.
Further, what "good" would I do here? You could pump the entire national space budgets of every nation on earth, plus SpaceX's budget and all the basic research and engineering budgets of everyone touching space technology right now and it wouldn't suddenly fix the planet. Money is not the limiting factor when it comes to the shitholes on this planet.

For hyperintelligence to be achieved, AI would have to be able to modify itself. It would easily be able to ignore whatever retarded "prime directive" humans give it.
