The only time this was actually a problem was on the gamegear which was super zoomed in even compared to the Master System versions of the game which have a much larger viewing angle. This was only a problem on the game gear. The genesis games give you time to react, but there's a risk/reward vs blazing through the levels. Move at slower pace if you keep getting fucked, you don't HAVE to go fast and Sonic games tend to reward exploration.
