Asuka or Hikari. Rei is his half sister, Misato doesnt actually love him. Kawaru is a homo agent sent by seele to end mankind. He lacks the walls that humans put up becouse he is inhuman. He only find humanity by killing himself, becouse to be human is to have walls, which he will never have becouse Karl is an alien perversion of man, and justly will never find long lasting love and affection outside his own death. Most of this also applies to Rei. I dropped rebuild on the third movie and hated it. Mari is terrible but i cant comment on her and shinji.. Asuka seems like the more thematic choice the show was pushing for, but i still think Hikari or another girl from his school would be a healthier option
