You don't reinvent the wheel precisely because you understand why it rolls, not because you were told it does. Religiously following obscure principles set by people who never bothered to explain them to you is not "learning", you're just parroting what was bashed into your head for eighteen years straight. You never try to see those from any other side, you never try to prove why 2 multiplied by 2 equals 4 and not 6 or 3. All you see is a dogma etched in stone, stone that nothing can grow in because there's nowhere to put any roots.
